Remember when theychanged DD healing from physical to all damage and it was going to break the game?

But then the patch dropped and it remained a mediocre item and the worst thing that happened was a bunch of youtubers making clickbait videos about it?

Good times Gameplay. Good times.

This feels like a great case of Riot making a decent call.

Feel like it's a minor QoL buff to champs like Jax, barely noticeable, and that's what it was intended to be.

Marshbouy12/21/2018, 3:38:57 AM14 votes

Yep. Anyone who applied more than a few moments thought to it would realize that it wasn't that crazy. No AP champs were going to pick it up and most AD champions who didn't built it wouldn't pick it up because there are better options already.

A bunch of BS fearmongering over nothing.

Akali is SO HOT12/21/2018, 5:25:54 AM7 votes

THE BALANCE TEAM SUCKS THE GAME IS RUINED FOREVER REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Nevrankroaton12/21/2018, 7:23:55 AM5 votes

It is because even if it scale well on the healing part for some champion like Jax, akali or corki, they have WAY more important item to take first.

Akali will rush hextech gunblade so even if DD could be cool on her, she has no reason to get it. Corki already need to follow a fixed set of item so he can properly get to his huge late game/powerspike, no way DD enter in the dance. Even if Jax is an item abuser, why take DD when he will ALWAYS build titanic hydra and triforce to have all the powerspike he need and then go tanky? Having sustain is generally for lane issue and he take doran blade for that, I feel he would only take DD for specific case.

So yeah, maybe a build or some changes/buff will make DD mandatory in the future for some of them but atm, it isn't clearly on the radar.

Its honestly too soon to be sure :

  • high elo just stick with what work.
  • games end before these changes matter ( usualy you build DD 3rd in rare case 2nd)
  • low elo datas aren't reliable enough

The reason the buff did nothing is because damage is too high for DD to do anything at all. The delayed damage doesn't prevent you from dying in 1 second, and you'll never manage to get any significant healing off of it before you're dead.

Critmaster Garen12/21/2018, 10:28:05 PM3 votes

has anyone said it would break the game?

the only thing i recall is that some people were worried about some specific hybrid champions like Akali who could stack potentially too much sustain with gunblade+death dance to be managable.

i still think it became a lot more feasable option on some champions. including a possible combat sustain option for garen. but games in general are so fast right now that its hard to get to the point where youd build it.

its not a core item, so id buy it probably 4th item (including boots) if i ever grab it, and games usually end before its either finished, or are decided by the time you complete it.

Remember that the 8.11 was a buff to adcs because they would get 100% crit on 3 items while it was a massive nerf?

Remember that HailOfBlades would be op on adcs that would burst anyone on 3 aa's and when they released it only Jhin used it for his weird interaction ?

ninjaroxas12/21/2018, 12:39:03 PM2 votes

And there haven't been any threads complaing about it after it went live so why are you are you even bringing it up?

TheSymbolÔfPeace12/21/2018, 4:40:06 AM2 votes

I honestly didn't see how it would've made it a broken item. 15% is not much, as even 500 damage is only 75.

Escheton12/21/2018, 4:42:38 AM2 votes

I am still wondering if it's a fun bruiser Sion item now, as he would heal off E and his W shield bursting.

The Trent12/21/2018, 2:28:58 PM2 votes

Well... Fiora kinda loves the item now considering she'll heal for 10-20% of a tanks max hp in true damage every time she hits a vital.

Remember that time they removed spell vamp?

What was the point again? Cause I'm not seeing it now.

Somebody Love Me12/22/2018, 5:17:46 AM1 votes

Pretty sure Fiora is kinda nuts rn but I might be wrong

Probs feeding12/21/2018, 9:00:51 PM1 votes

I've been building it on Kat lately. Absurd when you get ahead, pretty meh if not.

Vlada Cut12/21/2018, 9:11:07 PM1 votes

It just made you more sustainable whule tanking with it's bleed effect. It's deffinetly better now.

OurLestrade12/21/2018, 10:24:25 PM1 votes

Wasn't Protobelt mean to break the game?

Automated Riven12/21/2018, 4:22:19 AM1 votes

In the upside. It feels a little better to pick conquerer now on Riven.

BoilTheOil12/21/2018, 11:20:17 PM1 votes

Idk man it made MasterYi a lot better

Hypochondria912/21/2018, 12:22:14 PM1 votes

I would try it on Corki but you are probably better off going item 3078 item 3094 item 3031

RankOneWakanda12/22/2018, 1:24:24 AM1 votes

its because the item turns physical damage into true damage. which is. NOT a good thing. your essentially delaying damage. to take EVEN more damage.

so yeah. its not. a good thing. sometimes it is. against burst if you can heal up. but if your playing a tanky champion the item isn't good
