what if we could take direct control of a turret?

i mean an item active that allows us to command a turret to attack specific units like certain champion pets. i imagine this would make for a really good trinket.

  • for 10 seconds turrets in range gain a 115-455 health shield (depending on champion level) and increased attack speed
  • the turret can be issued attack commands by holding the alt key and using the right mouse button or by reactivating the trinket.

lvl 9 upgrades could include

a) 50% of its damage is dealt as area of effect damage b) turret shots apply a slow c) friendly units within range of the turret gain 9 - 18 armor and magic resist for the duration

and put a decent cooldown on the thing. like 2 minutes.

just spitballing here.

they feel really useless right now. this would be a nice mechanic for a defending team. at the cost of vision.

At best this would be a start for an item 3056 change.

But 100% should not be a trinket.

i dont know. this feels like something related to map control that would best fit on a trinket. if youre using this, you have a button that can help you defend a specific lane for a couple seconds, but youre not clearing or placing wards.

since sighstone and trinkets are now the main sources of vision, this could make sense.

Trinkets are meant for vision and vision has more strategic ups and downs for having bad timings or misplacements of those actives. With this you cannot misplace the active as turrets are always stationary. You can only use the active at a less than optimal time and lets face it... when is that going to happen? Also, to make this active strong you can't make it free, or even cheap. It's better as a item.

whelp. either way, something like this would be kinda nice. make turrets more interactive and get a defending team 1 minion wave worth of breathing room.

problem of course is, if you make it an item, the active would be limited by the stats. if the active is good, then the item itself cant have very good stats. a little bit weird. youd have the same problem as with the trinket.

That's why riot has had so much trouble with Ohmwrecker in the past. You want it for tower diving but just having a better armor item serves almost as good and will be better against champion damage so don't bother buying that item in the first place.

I'm sure there's some active/passive combination that can be just right for this item.
