lich bane veigar?

Just wanted to know if anybody else has tried this amd what are your thoughts on it. Ive been getting instead of on veigar for quite a while now. Seems that he can take structures fairly quickly and also pairs nicely with your Q. Now that gives cdr and mana I think its even more viable.

I used to use it in the past considering how much AP he could stack but with his recent ultimate change its not necessary since the lower the HP of the enemy the biggest burst from his R. It was good when his ult scaled off AP because not everyone used AP. Lately I abuse his Q passive and stack more HP/AP making him surprisingly tanky for a glass cannon.

Honestly? It's good, but its not what I'd advise on a pure AP build. Veigar's too squishy on AP to really make use of it, and too slow to get in autos before the stun is over.

If you build him like this: item 3003 item 3800 item 3907 item 3100 item 3047 item 3135 , then maybe (4 move speed items, armor)

With Veigar's raw ap, I find he destroys structures plenty fast anyways with 500-600 damage auto attacks.

I wouldn't buy lich bane to use auto attacks against champions as Veigar. You're too immobile that being in auto attack range for a teamfight is just a no. Your cooldowns are sufficiently short that you can spam q and w with minimal downtime to use for repositioning, no need to throw in auto attacks at that point unless you're trying to finish off a low health enemy.

I generally get lich bane mid ONLY for taking structures when my ADC can't be trusted (either repeatedly dies in the won teamfight, or keeps chasing kills instead of winning the game). So I get lich bane to make myself able to take the turrets instead.

Veigar doesn't really need that because he gets so much more raw ap than other mid lanes. He may use it even better, but if you're doing 600 damage per auto already, you don't need to get it to 1200. You're better off investing in either more burst to win that teamfight, or more survivability.

Although I will admit that the CDR, mana, and MS, are all attractive still.
