How does Riot detect MMR boosting?

I am really curious as I see a lot of people posting about being baned for that reason, more than ever. I know its obvious that someone is being MMR boosted if he gets an insane spike in win rates or if summoners are all of a sudden placed on a different key but what about personal habits of a player? For example, I mostly play normal games with my friends until they go to sleep and than I go play few ranked games but what is gonna happen if I cecide to focus on ranked games when season 8 starts? Is Riot going to detect it as MMR boosting or account sharing because I am not playing normal drafts anymore? I mean, I really don't want to play normal games just to keep my current habits on point in order to nit get detected for "weird behaviour on my acc.

Sorry this may be a stupid question but I have no idea how that thing works as I have never been restricted for anything since day one (season3), never inted, never trolled, never flamed or used a bad word, never shared my account with anyone and never chat restricted.

Enlighten me please. ^_^

When you login it sends your IP address to the server this gives riot the information needed most of the time

Now if at this new location suddenly you're playing like a korean god and have perfect reactions..

Riot will always know what is ELO boosting and what isnt because of the IP addresses Everygame you play requires you to send data from you and into the server in order to move

Nobody can tell you an official answer as to how they do it because riot doesn't reveal this information to prevent people from finding a way around it.

I would say it is most likely that riot uses device ID and bans all accounts associated with those IDs.

This is the simplest quick easy method with no false positives method, which is why this ban wave is still relatively small compared to how many boosted accounts we know there are that are not caught.

I have not found a single actuall case of someone being wrongfully banned for getting boosted. I picked up Kha Zix thinking it would be fun to try out and i went from p4 to d3 with an 80% winrate, (I was p1 at best before decaying.) That champed really clicked for me and now im currently high diamond but thats besides the point.

Don't worry about that. Riot doesn't ban without really strong proof showing boosting.
