PSA: Cinderhulk is better off skipped or replaced

Cinderhulk is really weak right now. The damage nerf and radius nerf really hurt.

I've done a fair amount of testing in the new patch on Rammus who I have a good feel for and should be a pure Cinderhulk user. It's night and day compared to the old Cinderhulk. My damage/threat level just fell off a cliff.

I also tried Runic Echoes and Bloodrazor and not only did both feel much better, but both performed much better on Rammus. That tells me that Cinderhulk is too weak. And any Cinderhulk user is better off skipping their jungle item or trading it for a different enchantment.

The big problem is that they took a split-pushing item (sunfire), said it did too much inlane harass, wanted to turn it into a pure "siege" item, and sorta decided to apply that to cinderhulk without understanding the nuances. Junglers rarely ever splitpush (unless it's something ridiculously off-meta like darius/fio), so the fact cinderhulk was touched at all confuses me due to the two items serving very different purposes.

They honestly tied Cinderhulk to Sunfire Cape too tightly. It should be it's own item, and now that dealing damage is no longer a thing Riot wants tanks to do anymore, it should have it's effect replaced entirely

It's still good on Sej IMO because the AOE is core for clearing and she still loves the scaling bonus.

I still have no idea why they nerfed Cinder though, it was probably the weakest of the enchantments to begin with. The least they could have done was compensation buff the HP bonus to 20% IMO.

Ok rammus at least uses bloodrazor a lot better than the average jungle tank because his passive gives him a ton of AD (soon to be on-hit magic damage) so sticking attack speed on him actually works (like why I tend to buy wits end part way through the game)

It's still the highest win rate build on almost every jungler so yeah... And I also think cinderhulk is fine right now. I don't know why you guys are complaining. Cinderhulk clears much faster now than it did before.

You only do 1 less dmg compared to the old cinderhulk at level 6. **ONE **dmg.

That's fucking nothing considering you clear **almost twice as fast **at level 6. Yes it evens out at level 18, but for most of the game you're clearing 20%-100% faster than old cinderhulk.

Yes you do less damage late game on champions, but it isn't even a big deal considering your clear speeds were much faster in the early-mid game.

Only thing I don't understand is the range reduction

I have been playing Sejuani and she struggles to clear the camps so I have been going cinder on her, maybe I should switch to runic

The only complaint I have with Sunfire/Cinderhulk is the radius reduction. It was actually a pretty major change that kills wave clear times. Everything else was actually a buff for jungle clear times, since the mobs in each camp are actually very close together. Sunfire was nerfed significantly more than Cinderhulk was.

would you recommend just skipping the completion of the jungle item?

RenownedWheat425/7/2017, 11:04:07 PM1 votes

This makes me sad as a tank jungler.

It also doesn't help that they reduced the health on so many items making the scaling health increase worse.

Didnt play much jungle since the patch, but are you really telling me to go runic echoes on udyr and volibear ?

AL0005/7/2017, 7:59:06 AM1 votes

Just never use that terrible item... it's bad since a many patches ago.

AP tanky jungler like Rammus is better going with Runic Echoes.
