Lets take a look at the BE system as a whole.
Lets take a look at this rationally. So the net gain of straight BE is down from the old system, thats a given. We have to look at ALL the factors though. A good size chunk of BE that would be spent on runes is gone. This is great for new players, but worthless for old players who already bought their runes. Even a somewhat basic set of old runes could run anywhere from 30k-40k IP. That has to be factored in.
Say we are averaging ~30 BE less per game with this system. that 30k-40k we saved on runes will make up the difference for 1300 games. That has to be factored in. However, like I mentioned players who already had their runes dont see this benefit. However, we have to keep in mind that the higher level you get, the slower and slower you earn BE. That ~30 BE per game number will steadily grow over time. Again, this punishes older players heavily.
Now, champs. It is true that you would have to grind a shit ton more games to get the champion you wanted unless you lucked out and got a shard for them which drastically lowers the price. This system doesnt feel as good because you are depending on 100% RNG to get the shard you want or else you get punished heavily. This system doesnt seem like a good one. The old system of being able to consistently move toward a goal has been replaced with stress of shard RNG to save you many, MANY hours of grinding.
You also have to factor in that cheaper champ shards drop MUCH more frequently than expensive ones. So if you want a specific 6300 BE champ, you're more or less screwed. You have to grind waaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy more to get that champ. Honestly this seems like a pretty obvious attempt to force people into buying champs with real money.
Also cant forget that the ability to reroll champ shards into a permanent was completely taken away.
So that is what the new system is. Punishing for older players, great for newer players, and 100% completely reliant on stacked RNG deciding your fate. This is not an improvement.
