The mobility fact

Hey, Kui here.

Anyways, i wanted to discuss something that should be true, but is not true in league of legends- mobility creep. Mobility creep is built into just about every other new champion designed with the exception of the few, if not high mobility they have massive gap closers that make the champion have less weaknesses compared to old school champions. If a champion has a high mobility, that champion should not have the same dps or burst damage as a non mobile champion. And a champion that is not mobile should perform more damage and pay for the mistakes they make.

Right now, this is unheard of and not at all what league of legends is and how the champion designers and balancing teams create their champions, if mobility is added it is not a factor towards damage overall and damage output on a regular basis. Mobility is a MAJOR factor in how games are played and champions such as Riven, Zed, Vi-okay the 20 champions that are actually played in ranked are completely dominating while slower champs that are suppose to be 'tanks' are unable to perform as well as the other champions. Exceptions are assassins that are not safe at all in lane, or have a hard laning phase while also incapable of escaping in a safe manner with enemies around.

The champions that follow this rule

Zyra Zilean Zac Yorick XinZhao Xerath Warwick Volibear Vladimir Viktor Velkoz Veigar Swain Syndra Talon Taric Teemo Tristana Trundle TwistedFate Twitch Udyr Urgot Soraka Sona Skarner Sivir Sion Singed Shyvana Shen Sejuani Ryze Rumble Rengar Renekton Rammus Quinn Pantheon Orianna Olaf Nunu Nocturne Nautilus Lissandra Lulu Lux Malphite Malzahar Maokai MissFortune Mordekaiser Morgana Nami Nasus Leona KogMaw Kennen Kayle Katarina Kassadin Karthus Karma Jinx Jax Janna Irelia Heimerdinger Hecarim Gragas Graves Garen Gangplank Galio Cassiopeia Chogath Corki Darius Diana DrMundo Draven Elise Evelynn Fiddlesticks Caitlyn Braum Brand Blitzcrank Ashe Annie Anivia Amumu Alistar Aatrox

Champions may have been included to following the rule because of the fact that they have major flaws if something does not go their way and are certain to pay for it, however those that do not follow the rule certainly have a chance to fix the flaw they created at a buttons notice, therefore they are incredibly safe while also having the mobility and damage needed to scare away any champion even close to coming up to their level.

The champions that do not follow this rule

Zed Yasuo MonkeyKing Tryndamere Riven LeeSin Leblanc Khazix Fiora Fizz Ezreal JarvanIV Jayce Ahri Akali Poppy Kalista RekSai

*Possible chance i messed up, if i missed a champion please tell me in the comments to add above. This is a topic that SHOULD receive a comment from Riot to explain why these champions can have both mobility and the same powers as the other champions.

The champions that do not follow the rule clearly have balancing issues and push out any light the champions that follow the rule might have, matter of fact the champions that follow the rule and are played professionally are instantly nerfed and put away due to them being "OP," like you know, Janna mid.

I would say that is true. Most champions are able to either go in or back out with their moves. Champs like LB has a really safe poke or engage without fear of retaliation (which means you have to predict their movement to have any hope of a counter play). Other champs, like Poppy, can engage an entire team with an ult and can go through most champs with ease.

I do agree that these hyper-mobile champs should have a lower damage output to compensate, as poking with these champs or engaging is far too easy.

I agree, and i hope this post gets more attention because it is a rule that should be taken into account for champion design, there is a reason why 80% of the champions in the game are not played professionally and in ranked.

Well, the meta always favors a small champion pool. While nerfing the meta champs would force new champs to arise, we'd always be stuck with a small pool of champs always used.

I think some of the other issues revolve around these mana-less champs who could stay in lane as long as they wanted, having a huge advantage against champs who could only throw a few q's before having to recall to recharge mana. Side note: I'm still waiting on a mana-less adc.

Some adc's don't require the mindset of saving mana, such as Vayne. This is my personal experience however.

I think a meta could exist with a large portion of the champions that exist in league of legends if we removed a lot of factors that should just not exist, like champions that do not follow the mobility fact, RNG, limited ward coverage to -increase teamwork- and resets that have no cooldown. I made a suggestion that would make a lot of champions that were issues no longer an issue with resets, such as a 10-15 second CDR on resetting, that way katarina and Kha'zix are not pentakilling the match away.

Resourceless champions are fine in my opinion, but they do NOT deserve any perks at all and need to pay for the mobility they have, and if they do not have mobility they should have a large span of weaknesses and picked for niche picks or something of the sort that makes it fair to have no resources. SOMETHING needs to limit a champion, and if that resource is plentiful with low CDR's it should not be a thing in my opinion.

Agreed. I think most adc champs aren't too worried about mana consumption as they are cooldowns (a good bit of vayne's damage come from her passive ability, and just chucking out her abilities would leave someone with a window of vulnerability).

I also agree about resourceless champs. The thing is I'm not too sure on how that can be adjusted for fairness.

I think the reason the meta ends up favoring a small champion pool is a side effect of just how the LCS forces the pros to be masters of 1-2 champs in their preferred position. The game is extremely unforgiving of mistakes at that level because their opponents can and will exploit missteps. And if you are going to master just a few champs you need to master the ones that synergize well with the rest of the team and which will give you the best chance to win. In the end with 6 champs banned, you probably have 18-20 champs across the 5 positions that really are going to see a ton of practice time. After all the worst possible situation would be the other team banning your top 3 choices for 1 position and then claiming the fourth. But any team doing that would likely be punished by the rest of your team, so that is extremely unlikely. In general the worst would be your first choice banned and your second taken by the other team before you could select. So each pro probably is a master of no more than 4 champs.

Why its always the same ones falls into the flexibility of the kit. Even though you can see the other team picking and you have video of previous matches you can't be sure how they'll come out and play, so you have to adjust your plan on the fly. Champs that can do many things are obviously important in this case. an Urgot is powerful, but he can't provide flexibility if the other team decides to change their tactics suddenly. So teams have to take a champ that can make the adjustments. Mobility is a huge part of that.

There is no real solution. The LCS and the risks/rewards there pretty much forces the pros to play a certain way and the lower ranks are quick to follow the FoTM even if they don't understand why the pros are making the selections they are.

Honestly, I tend to try to avoid FoTM champions. I would rather play a champion I love who isn't overly popular than follow the crowd because Doublelift happened to use champ X in the LCS and got 32 kills last week, so everyone now wants to play champ X. (Note: I don't watch the LCS, so I have no idea how he really did. I just know he is on one of the North American teams.)

Agreed. Don't watch LCS either, but watching League doesn't appeal to me.
