The Blame Game

Stop playing the Blame Game and start playing League of Legends. As soon as you start playing the Blame Game, you cannot win. You do not deserve to win. You are doomed to lose.

Even if your top laner went 0/10, you still have to be nice to them. Give them tips, like "Can you try to stay under your turret for now? I'll come gank soon." or "Don't 1v1 right now, you're behind, try and just farm." or "Do you think you could buy a pink ward so you can spot when the jungler comes again?" or if you're the top laner: "Jungler, I haven't gotten a gank yet, I would really love one soon! :)"

Word your advice nicely. If you blame or criticize harshly, people will get defensive and fight with you. Be the bigger person.

You cannot play the Blame Game and League of Legends at the same time.

I agree.

The sad part is we've all been in that place where, for whatever reason, we're not playing our best, and we're going to have a bad game in the future as well. It's natural. Not everyone plays perfectly all the time. All that matters is that they are trying.

Remember what it feels like to get zero help when you're behind, and go to their lane or let them know that you haven't forgotten about them. I always do this when I see someone struggling to keep their head above water, and most of the time it helps a lot. I've never seen one instance where shaming someone or getting into an argument with them about the game has helped.

You just walk away feeling salty, or you get toxic then get reported.

Believe it or not, I've been raged at for trying to be a team player (and for doing well). A recent example (team builder):

I'm Akali mid. We have a Draven top, a Sivir ADC,and Morgana support. I've run with the Draven before and seen him complain about me taking his kills before (because somehow, the fact I won a 1v2 mid should translate to kills for bot lane, but I digress), but this was a whole new level. Our Shaco jungle forgets smite, so I let him have mid now and then to farm up and get levels while I roam and pick off stragglers and help feed Sivir since I am ahead from some early kills on my lane opponent.

By mid game Sivir and I are doing quite well (Morgana was getting her fed and I fed her a few kills during my roams). Draven, on the other hand, is doing abysmal. I ganked for him once, he ran away, I got the kill, he complained, I didn't gank again.

He proceeds to flame both the jungle and myself (he didn't even realize the guy had no smite, then called him a troll, then started attacking me when I defended the jungler for making an honest mistake; more on the jungler later). He started saying how I took all his kills (since, you know, I had one top lane kill at this point and I was in the high teens for kills overall) and that it is a team game and the kills should be shared. I explained how Sivir was just as fed as I was and the CS leader. Sivir and Morgana both said they were doing well and I was a huge help. I tried to explain that I can't help that I got fed off the enemy Morgana (who was getting insulted in all-chat, and again, I defended her and got a friend out of it at the end, which is pretty cool, she was really nice) and that I can't make those kills appear top. He just continued to berate my "lack of team play" all the while avoiding any real objective control. The best is every time I killed Yi (it was a DPS race, he was super fed; our fights lasted like 2 seconds tops) he said how I stole his kill (even if he didn't get an assist). I was like "With Yi, I don't have the luxury of trying to feed you, if I don't kill him, he will kill me." That didn't go well for chat for a bit.

He then proceeded to play even more poorly, refused to show up to team fights until the end (and complained how we took his kills when he got there), and continued to fail to see the importance of defending towers (how someone makes it to gold in S4 without understanding tower importance is beyond me). By this point we are a bit ahead in kills but he is costing us objectives. Morgana tries to coddle him which only fuels his Akali bashing (did I mention this is a guy I play with often?). At this point I'm like, look, you told me to bring Akali and when I get ahead on her, I really get ahead. He then told me he thought I'd be smart enough to share the kills with the ADC (note that I did feed Sivir in my roams, and I think I had only like 2-3 kills more than her by this point). I didn't bother responding (nor did anyone else, I think Sivir muted him at some point because she responded to everyone but him).

We are starting to lose hard in spite of our kill advantage and Shaco (our smite-less jungle that I sacrificed my own CS to keep in the game) starting calling out where he would be and giving the enemy free kills because his mom said he had to go to bed.

Thankfully, Mr. Draven unfriended me before I had a chance to the same to him. The thing is, no one this entire match (on our team anyway) insulted or blamed Draven. We only countered his statements with facts that were positive or obvious, we never pointed out anything that made Draven or anyone else look bad. I don't know how, but this made things worse.

**TL;DR: **Draven top complained because ADC and Mid lane got fed, threw game by refusing to help take or defend towers, Smite-less Shaco jungler up past his bed time and his mother was angry so helped put the nails in the coffin. Made a new friend by sticking up for her after I did well against her in lane (and who came back to be really effective for their team after some words of encouragement from, ironically, her lane opponent).

Conclusion:

I think negative people will find reasons to be negative. If you are doing bad, they will call you out. If you are doing well and they aren't, they will blame you. You can't win.

Had a game like this last night. Everyone was getting along just fine in champ select and in the beginning of the game. Our top lane Nidalee was against a Malphite and was doing quite poorly. Our jungler Amumu would gank and our Zed would roam top when he got the chance, but Maplh got too tanky too quickly to have any success in doing so. Laning phase ends and Zed goes to clear a wave top lane that was building up and approaching our 2nd tower. Nidalee goes off on him, saying he's stealing her farm, even though she had just respawned. We tell her to farm the jungle and got grab a big wave bot. She then starts flaming our Tristana saying that she's no good and stole her ADC role (Trist was 1st pick and Nid said nothing about wanting ADC). Granted, not of us were doing overly well, but we were able to hold our own until laning phase ended and Malph started roaming. She continues her tirade onto Amumu saying he never ganked for her, etc etc. She caps it all off by saying that she didn't know how to play top lane and it was our fault for making her play there, when we had 2 people in champ select that said they would fill (myself and our jungler).

It just gets to me that everyone was so cooperative in champ select then one person gets behind and turns on the rest of us. Granted, they also had a fed Vi so it would've been a tough fight to come back from but there was no reason to turn on your team mates.

I'll throw this under the general, 'Don't be a jerk', rule.

Obviously, there should be some friendly / sportsmanship rewards for those who don't rage when others are blaming them. Every time I'm having a bad game, some team mates just rage at you and you lose your focus, which makes you snowballing in the deep. Why can't I play Teemo without getting reported by this Leblanc or this Vi?

I am not saying that Teemo is a bad pick, but generally, if you are playing Teemo, people look at you with that "look" because most trolls play Teemo. So there is a negative image behind Teemo, because he is associated with trolls and trolling. Not to mention that Teemo is also deemed to be the most annoying champion in the game. Also other negative concepts about Teemo (satanic champion, demon, diabolic, etc)

I was playing a game on my smurf recently (mainly because i wanted to see how the future players were doing) and there was a garen top with a warwick. Garen was obviously a smurf warwick was not. we were winning the game and warwick was doing bad so garen just was being a jerk to a new player and it was awful. So i really wish people would stop being jerks on smurfs as well

Don't only give tips to your team, but to the other team as well. I played as Shyvana against a Hecarim toplane, and it was obvious they were new to him. They knew what their ablilities could do, and knew the basic jist how to implement them, but didn't know how to implement them in more of a statistical way? Now, I don't even own Hecarim, but I was talking to a friend who did, and asked him how this guy could improve. His build was off, and he was just not using his combos correctly. After I talked to the guy after the game, he told me later on how good he was getting, and that me telling him not to be discouraged really helped because of how his team, and our Zyra were giving him crap for being bad his first game.

TL;DR If someone is doing bad, don't salt. Help, encourage, and promote better play. Being salty just makes them tilt more.

In normals, sure. Not in ranked though, haha. Give them tips AFTER the game in ranked.

I don't take any lip from a feeding teammate, a teammate who wont help ward or cover objectives, a teammate who won't focus properly during teamfights, et cetera.

The only way your team is going to make a comeback after falling behind is by catching up, and you can't catch up if you aren't covering the bases or outright refuse to make right decisions out of spite. I disagree with this thread somewhat because you can't sugar coat a players mistakes and expect them to make that turnaround 99% of the time.

At the end, all that anyone asks of you is that YOU perform to the best of your ability. Some games are unwinnable for the reasons I mentioned; cut your losses and focus on how you can become better under circumstances where u tend to fall off

Yea, maybe in Narnia. I don't even read it if anyone writes something long like that.

"Oh, my lovely companion in the forest, I had not been able to withstand the sheer power of my opponent and thus I request your help soon! I am sure to lose this wonderful building here, so if I may to ask you to hurry, thank youuuuu ;))))) <3333 Yours truly..."
