Seeing a ton of Vladimir players build WRONG

Hextech / Will of agents too early.

Vlad will ALWAYS be weak, until he maxes Q. Q does not max until 7-9 He has a healing mechanic, but that does not mean he should be buying a Spirit Visage item 3065

So what's a good first item? Boots + Potions --> giants belt into relais (Slow Q to help team prioritize targets without the need of your FLASH w) or Boots + potions --> sorc boots into lisandries torment (2% of targets hp + magic pen, this means if you cast E ONCE on the enemy team, 10-20% hp of their WHOLE team will be gone) note that vlad pool slows. . doubling the effect of lisandries torment

at this point vlad will have enough magic pen to 100-0 ANY ADC regardless of build or heavily zone them out.

THEN you buy will of agents, but I would rather prefer either hourglass or building the other starting item.

Lisandries + Relais --> hourglass / death cap / voidstaff / randoins depending on who you are fighting.

Just because vlad is fighting an assasin, does not mean you need to change your starting build.

Vlad vs Akali - the reason most vlads die to akali, is because of the enemy jungler and the first blood ends up putting him behind in levels. The main reason vlad NEVER catches back up to akali's power spike, is because he isn't strong enough to assist in teamfights or clear wave fast enough to do so.

(Rushing spirit visage = fail)

If you are struggling against akali, ask your sup or buy pink wards, not magic resist.

Vlad vs Zed - hourglass rush is perfectly fine, but the huge downside is no health to sustain the armor of hour glass, and no magic pen to 100-0 the enemy adc / junglers

Vladimir Please don't make your team embarrassed for giving you the solo lane.

Let me tell you why you're wrong.

Zhonia's is core on him for obvious reasons. You want to be able to survive in the middle of teamfights while still doing damage, and Zhonia's is perfect for that mid-game. THAT is your rush.

You get revolver if you need it for the lane, or if you know you'll be split pushing a lot.

Outside of that, CDR is one of the strongest stats on him, but that doesn't mean you should always go for max CDR. Vlad's one of those champions you build for the situation with.

If you're ahead, buy damage and zhonia's to push the advantage. If you're behind, build heavy CDR, and *still *zhonia's. Your other items are completely dependent on what you or your team need.

Rylai's+Liandry's is in no way core on him. His only core is really WotA+Zhonia's, as they both offer things that he can use extremely well in every situation. Everything else is situational outside of Voidstaff.

As a former Vlad main I agree with Maulkrieg. Vlad's builds are entirely situational. I personally like to rush Spirit Visage before anything else because it gives me a ton of nice defensive stats while also giving me ability power through my passive and increasing my health regeneration. Then I take boots and make my item choices based off the enemy. I don't get Liandry's and Rylai's both in my build unless the enemy has a lot of health stacked. I get Zhonya's after Visage often immediately. I never bother with WotA because my sustain is usually fine with Visage-empowered Q heals. I've been playing Vlad like this since I got him during the Draven patch and I have had no trouble at all. I don't know what the hell you're smoking.

He has no CC except W, why wouldnt Rylai be a core item on him?

You speak of 100%ing the enemy. This is not what vlad does. He is a sustained damage mage, not a burst mage.

Vlad can build a lot of different items and be successful. He's not always about 100-0ing the ADC. I prefer a more sustained damage build then burst personally. I run 3 different rune pages to ensure I can get 40% CDR by end game while keeping my items flexible.
