Can we get an explanation on how there are so many Platinum+ players with low games played/win rate?

I ended the season at Platinum I and went 8-2 in placements, and got placed in Gold III.

I'm regularly encountering players who ended last season Platinum, have extremely low games played/win rate, yet are somehow still mid-Platinum. For example, one player I encountered was Platinum last season and in Platinum II promos with 40% win rate over something like 60 games. Another player I just encountered was Platinum last season and is currently Platinum III with 10 losses and 5 wins.

Is this system broken, or is there some exploit with placements going around? It makes absolutely no sense.

rito matchmaking.

I got perma banned on my main, but if I remember correct, I got placed in Gold 4 after doing da promos.

On my new account however, I went 8-2 as well and ended Gold 3.

I think rito matchmakerino just sucks.

depends on previous ranks as it's never a complete reset, when I last did placements 2 seasons ago I won 8 games, lost 1 then won my last game and ended up in gold 1 so I could have ended up in platinum with just 10 games had I not lost that 1 game since I was facing platinum players there so it's possible that's why you see players with low games played in platinum

Even less sense, I just encountered an S7 Platinum player who is now Platinum II and in promos, with 41% win rate.

Another one that makes no sense, S7 Gold Malzahar is at Platinum II and in promos with 47% win rate over 130 games.

You're forgetting about preseason, which is hilariously easy to get boosted by duoing to high MMR because no one good is playing/no one gives enough of a shit to try.
