Your proposed changes would keep both sides of the argument happy and satisfied.
it would also bring about a large variety of build orders, both items and skills.
It would also allow you to choose how you want to progress into mid game, late game, and give you the choice to play your champion the way you want to.
That is what Riot's philosophy should have stayed as. But I just don't see it coming about.
Removing the Damage amplification for a .5 second speed boost is a horrendous way to compensate Ahri for such a hard hit to her damage. Which is one of the integral reasons she is Viable in any shape or form right now.
Previously, Riot changed her to an assassin role because they were not happy with the way people were playing her. As a caster mage. So they gutteted her damage, gated the rest of it to her charm, and then proceeded to nerf her mobility.
Now they are going back on their decisions, but in the worst way possible.
If you don't want someone to be an assassin, you change them to fit another role, and when you do that, you give them the tools to be able to thrive in that role, make it their own and keep them Viable.
If these changes go through to live, she will be a pitiful assassin, a poor caster mage, and just have a lot of negative feedback, far more than what they've most likely received so far with these changes just being on the PBE.
There was a large collective outrage when they first changed Ahri from a Caster Mage to an Assassin role.
Now that everyone has come to terms with it, and have found ways to enjoy it, they're going to ruin that as well for an incredibly large population of the game.
Despite Riot stating that they are a player oriented company, they have a very long and bad history of going back on that claim, making questionable decisions that not only outrage players, but also cause the company to lose accountability at times.
It just seems that all their focus is pointed to the higher levels of play, LCS and above, that they seem to neglect, or outright ignore the voices of the many others that play the game.
"Lets cater to the few hundreds and ignore the millions others" is what I always seem to get from a lot of their decisions and it's not a good thing if someone who's been playing this game a week out of Beta has a growing opinion like that about the game.
