sorry mayne I'm not high elo but i do a lot of research into game strat and macro play. If you hear me out maybe you can come up with some ideas of your own.
Jungling is interesting because its always a good idea to play towards what your team needs. However this can force you onto champs that you're not necessarily comfortable playing. Not to mention jungle is the most meta oriented role in the game. Because of its constant changes and the variety of champs that can go in there, its almost impossible to make a definite list. However, things to consider.
- How many sources of damage do you have?
- How many sources of tank do you have and if your team is lacking in tankiness do you have something to deal with it?
- Do you need to bring cc or damage? Engage or sustain?
- Does your team need early game help or is your team okay to go long?
Heres a few popular picks that find their way into the game:
Shyvanna type: No hard engage but makes up for it in high damage and able to build bruiser tanky. Goes really well with tank-engage comps (maokai, naut, malph) and or speed up/buff comps (lulu). With good engage shy can get into fights easily and play a large factor. (yi and jax can also slide into this category if built bruiser).
Jax type: You can add master yi into this category. These are hyper carry type junglers (kayle, ww, feral flamers). Basically if you aren't controlling the game completely, your chances to win diminish drastically. They go good into comps that lack a lot of damage or have a really nice tank line in place (mundo/braum). The downfall is the longer it takes to control the game the less impact you'll have. Don't always think you can go late and you'll win.
Map controllers: Most significant champ in here is udyr. Basically any champ that makes it really easy for them to rotate (hecarim) allows them to make more plays on the map. These champs are really good into team comps that lack a champ to effectively wave clear safely. Most map controllers lack in early game ability tho and it takes gold to get them really going.
Tank: Not really meta right now especially with a lot of damage coming out of jungle however they are still played in the jungle. Slow clear times, slow ramp up times, and really slow impact. However, tank junglers are on par if not better than top lane tanks due to their relatively safer ability to farm in losing match ups. Good if your team is really lacking a front-liner. Bad if your team is lacking damage.
*in question 2 i asked do you have something to deal with tanks. Although the common idea is that tanks are always meta, that isn't necessarily true because certain comps can negate tanks quite effectively. Teams with good disengage for example or good sustain over time. Or displacements like gragas allow for opportunities to separate tanks from carries.
Early game junglers: Basically any jungler who's job is to control the map pre-6 and a little after it. They tend to fall off if not played effectively. Most meta junglers fall into this category due to their ability to not only get their team fed but to also negate the enemy teams jungler. Try taking graves into yi and watch how you just bully him at his camps. Or even nidalee for that matter. Normally these champs have higher skill caps and allow for more carry ability. Lee sin falls into this category also.
This isn't my full list of macro starts but I hope this helps! I know its kinda long but i figured Id be thorough!
