Oh, interesting, Sion buffs. Let's just take a look here...
JESUS CHRIST. This isn't real right? This is a dream right? I'm definitely not awake

That ult buff cannot make it through. As much as I love it, 1200 base damage on a maxed ability like that is FUCKING INSANE.
That being said, I hope the health stacking buff makes it through.
I'm just hoping they don't over-buff him and respond by nerfing the other aspects of his kit.
Aren't we all.
Question for the resident sion main. With this buff what is the max combo damage for full tank sion at lvl 18? I imagine full damage sion is now in oneshot territory easy.

IDK, math is for chumps.

Oh he already is for squishy champions. His counterplay allows him to get away with it.

I got you covered. If you take the cosign of the enemy ADC's anus and divide it by your running distance, the answer is "Oh shit, I didn't dodge Sion ult and I fucked up shit fuck NOOOO-" you get the idea
Was surprised by that too, remember that's a FULL charge, so the number of games that will be impactful is a smaller % than the amount of gender non-binary people in NA.
Basically, that buff means next to nothing. The health stacking is so fucking sweet though.

Good, a buff to Sion's ult is justified by the fact that his ult is one of the worst in the game.
[Ex: Compare to Malphite's unstoppable force]
They serve different purposes.
The balance team has officially gone past insanity and straight into the unknown.
i dont think his ult numbers will stay the same.
I think it's fine. For starers the ability is straight forward and easy to dodge and not like Kled ultimate where he goes around everywhere. I believe Sion's niche is that he has this super engage strong ability but it doesn't feel that strong tbh and most of the time you're gonna be running into a tank or nothing at all meaning the damage won't be much. Current Sion doesn't even get max distance charges that much in reality and if he does he should be rewarded with that high damage, hitting that slow turning ability is hard AF.
Also armored titan breaking down the wall vibes -> Sion charging into a turret... so hype...
As for the passive, I see it as balancing out cinderhulk price increases for junglers and also just a nice buff in general. Late game Sion doesn't get that much bonus health most of the time and his stacking slows down severely once people group up. So it is nice.
For these reasons I think they will keep the buff.
yeah i know exactly what you mean. His ult effectiveness is REALLY bad late game because everyone has too much out of combat movement speed. (AD itemization was changed to give more in updates), mages have bonus movement speed as well, so you don't get to use your full ultimate at all lategame. So i guess its a good thing that theyre giving you more of a reward for landing the ult later on in the game.
But it still doesn't fix the problem that if you don't build righteous glory, you don't reach maximum speed fast enough to even land your ult on slowed targets in later parts of the game. Idk dude
Hah hah yeah the ult is still gonna be hard to land. Once you make that huge play early people WILL respect the death bell when they hear it again later on in the game. Yeah the ultimate is hard to lose in close quarter combat stuff. The buff is directed towards long range engage for more damage and rewarding getting off those cross map engages.
In terms of short range well you would mostly be using it for CC and I think in those cases the ability is fine and shouldn't be considered for damage. Ways to land it would be using Q first or being point blank and just bumping them up for the shorter duration stun. Using the ultimate in the middle of a fight when people are kinda scattered everywhere doesn't give that good results unless you are point blank. The strength of the ultimate comes from far range engage.
I hope they keep the numbers, im tired of "NOTHING WILL STOP MEEEEEEE" and then giving the enemy midlaner a light yet shocking butt slap after running half way across SR. At max damagefordistance I think its fair number that late into the game.
yeah i want to fucking 1 shot people if i SOMEHOW land a maximum range ultimate XD
That is a reasonable expectation. It is also reasonable that we should want killingblows on sion ult to not stop his run.
thats what i thought when i read the fizz change
but not in a positive way hehe
With that and Nasus buffs, Riot balance team is on crack...
AND I LOVE IT.
Boy, If someone can land a full distance Slam-jam on a squishy, they probably shouldn't be frontline, and they deserve it so bad.
I like it. Gives some extra oomph. Now I don't feel obligated to take an AD item (or two) just to get some damage on my Ult-Q combo. And that extra 1 per minion is nice given he takes forever to break even with his low base health for a tank.
I can already hear the full lethality Sions ulting in the distance.
I'm far more concerned over the HP buff. That's easily 200+ extra HP per match putting the maximum I typically see close to 1000 bonus HP and more importantly meaning 100+ extra HP by the end of the laning phase vastly simplifying item choices.
I'm also curious if he even needs any buffs, he's very solid as is typically having had an over 50% win rate since forever, able to win most lanes while being a teamfight Boss regardless, he's the champion that for me perfectly fulfills what I would expect from the term "juggernaught" to mean and has a near universal effectiveness and flexibility that a lot of other tops lack

It has to do with the fact that Sion is gated by terrible base stats that are supposed to be counterbalanced by having a health stacking mechanic. The only problem is, once you get to about 200-250 farm, you're probably in the late game, where roaming with your team is more important, which usually means they will clear the waves instead of giving you the stacks since it's faster that way.
What this does is help Sion out by letting him have his CS x 3 = Bonus health, so that this gives him some cushion for the pushin' when that time comes. Sion is supposed to have an end game fantasy where he has like 5000 health and is just this beefy monster that slams his axe down (Which somehow causes people to fly upwards instead of being flattened?) and scream at people. I don't think I ever really scratched 4400 with him, which is a pretty average final health total for tanks
I'm still kind of confused on Sion's full charge. Is that the entire full duration or the half way point when his animation changes?
