@CertainlyT: Do your homework next time before reworking champions

SaltyToplaneGoat··7 votes·544 views

Like, spend some weeks with the lore & foundations team before ever laying hands on a single champion ever again. You are a creative guy with gameplay mechanics and I really appreciate that, but! for reworks it's needed to look at the theme and identity of a champion aside from the pure gameplay elements. And this is where you fucked up.

It's apparently fine to go bonkers on new champions, but when working with reworking ALREADY EXISTING champions you have more guidelines to work with. You did not care for these, and thus the result it a steaming pile of shit (to put it nicely).

Morde's lore identity: "Giant scary armor man who is a general and does ghost/plague things"

Morde's Game Identity (current): Tinfoil squishy-ass mage whose primary contribution is hoping the enemy ADC dies.

Morde's Game Identity (rework): Siege engine whose primary contribution is being a giant wall of beef while hoping the enemy ADC/Dragon dies.

Morde's Game Identity (current): Short range lategame metal man who dishes out tons of damage and turns your strongest assets against you while feeding off the pain he causes you. Enjoys pushing waves to take towers and being deceptively durable.

Morde's Game Identity (rework): Even more easily kited metal man who dishes out tons of damage... to those who stand still and near his ally... and turns your strongest assets... or Dragon... against you while feeding off some of the pain he causes you. Enjoys having someone hold his hand and trying to beat up his lane opponents through level advantage.

From someone who actually plays him, thank you. Nothing I'm seeing in Riot's rework screams SIEGE ENGINE to me, he's less durable if you're trying to be a strong damage dealer (one of his core identities), and he's unable to use his ult while the Dragon ghost is out, which lowers his ability to stick it on someone for heals. Not to mention being forced into a duo lane and swapped over from an AP burst mage to an AD bruiser, which did absolutely nothing for retaining his current identity.

Go read titanic hydra's stats. Then realize morde now has perfect justification to buy one since his shield scales on max HP as opposed to level.

You're not gonna be a burst mage anymore. Oh well. I'll take churning out constant aoe damage while being a huge brick wall as a consolation prize.

Will admit that they do appear to have lowballed most of his numbers, though. I expect we'll see some of those change.

Oh wonderful, a new item will fix the massive issues Morde has with his new identity. At least his AoE damage is hi- wait a second, looking at his actual rework... it's like... it's not...

And numbers are the least of my worries right now. See above about the identity issues, which your post really didn't do anything to address.

"identity issues"

You mean he's no longer a tinfoil wizard man that looks like Sauron but plays like a backline wuss mage?

man having consistency sucks.

What did he fuck up? What is the reasoning behind your opinion?

Mordekaiser.

The supreme lord of the undead, warlord of the shadow isles - needs to cooperate with others to even get the most basic shit done, cannot fight for himself and is a walking joke because no matter how much damage they load into his Q, you won't even get ONE basic attack on the enemy with that...

so exactly the same as he is now against any competent team.

Well, that's what the rework was supposed TO FIX! Not to make worse!

it's better: New Morde can just go bruiser itemization or hijack Dragon instead of sit around doing nothing until he can fish for R's.

Titanic Hydra is juuuuuuust a bit insane, if you hadn't realized. AP Morde looks pretty damn dead, though.

While I appreciate the swap to AD/Tankyness (I mean he is a giant armor dude), the Dragon is a gimmic at most. Any competent team playing against you will be three times more eager to have dragon control and your op little trick is pretty much worth nothing. Not that Dargon is that great to have... It's an oversized canon minion with AOE at most.

Also the change to his W is absolutely disastrous!

Ulquiorra9951 votes

At least you still have your instant Q damage and splash and W damage and resistances now. Too bad he won't have any of those soon.

Ulquiorra9951 votes

Let's see...

Darius: While new changes might or might not help him, they do not fit thematically at all. Darius is brutal, but also cold and calculating. He ain't going to chop you to pieces like a madman - he will cut your jugular and leave you to bleed to death. And what is his rework based on? RAAAWR! DARIUS SMASH!

Mordekaiser: Utterly and completely destroyed by logic that defies any common reason. Oh, let's take an immobile, CC-less melee champion, thrash all of his abilities, and then put him in a lane dominated by range and mobility. And while we're at it we'll also destroy his solo lane viability. Mordekaiser will never see a game outside of a single, extremely niche role he's been forced in.

Garen: He got execute damage... on a target he can not choose. And paid for it by losing any way to stick to his intended target: silence duration down, loss of tenacity and Judgement self slow. Good luck ever proccing that flashy Villain-buffed ultimate on any half-competent enemy.

Skarner: Never played him, so can't really say anything here. But judging by what Skarner players have to say... It's not pretty.

Riot, please fire or at least demote CertainlyT. Sincerely, the LoL community.
