Rakan balance

Rakan's current E range is huge if Rakan jumps to Xayah, but what about playing Rakan with other adcs? well then your E is about the range of a Jax ward hop, making Rakan much much weaker. I understand Rakan and Xayah are supposed to be stronger together, but Rakan currently only seems viable if he Supports a Xayah. Simple fix though to this problem. Make Rakan's E range slightly shorter when jumping to Xayah, but slightly longer when jumping to all other champions.

We'll ensure Rakan is viable even without Xayah. From internal testing, the shorter range on E hasn't made Rakan worthless. It does require some extra coordination from teammates.

This is a strong tie between the two champions and if it proves that the difference is too great, we can tune it a bit. Figure it will take us awhile before we can say for certain it is an issue.

Glad you decide not balance one around the other, but what happens when their solo is too strong and their isn't enough synergy

I probably would've given it a CD and/or mana reduction on Xayah instead if it needed to be toned down.

CD would be way stronger and also feel weird in some cases mana cost is something that players barely feel at all and is disappointing to the theme

Rakan really needs his attack range adjusted. He is locked to one sup item the coin. He has the lowest range for ranged champions. He has one ranged ability for poking. This makes it hard to use the frost fang. Because he considered ranged, he cant use the execute passive on the relic shield. I feel like he would be best suited as a melee champ which would be taking off 50 range for his autos. He has a shield passive and a shield active and is very mobile. Making him melee would open up a few build paths and you could take Stoneborn Pact as a keystone if you wanted to.

Nobody has any idea about viability. They aren't even released yet, at least wait until you've seen them first.

But they have been on the PBE for long enough for people to make gameplay videos.

theres only a handful of situations.

either together they are balanced.

together they are too strong.

or apart they are too weak.

if they are balanced together, then they cant also be balanced separate.

if they are balanced without eachother, then they must be even stronger together.

there is no winning situation unless its conditional that you play the two together or not at all.

if you want them to be balanced without eachother, then by extension together they must have the slightest of meaningless increases or else its disgusting not to be together.

basically its going to become > 55% together and < 45% apart (win rates). you will never get them close to 50 together AND apart without meaningless bonuses.

whats GOING to happen, is they'll be released together OP, and slight nerfs to be something along the lines of 52% together. and olafd under 40% separate. (my bets is sup is going to be really really weak and the adc will be a bit strong both separate and together, will be more workable in other comps than the support will be)

That assumes that their boost is meaningful enough to swing their power significantly. It really doesn't look like they put all too much power in their synergy. They have the extra recalls, which is nice but not game changing. Rakan has a doubled dash radius which is pretty good but it is conditional on where Xayah is and it doesn't double to teammates. Xayah does give her W to Rakan so that is nice, but again with a supports numbers won't be all that much better. Especially if you consider that other support champions may synergize better with her anyway.

then it would be appropriate meaningless bonuses.

nothing which could make or break the champ.
