Things I hate from Junglers

Okay, I am a Jungler, but I often have to fill other roles, like Support or ADC. However, there are a bunch of stuff I hate when I see my Jungle teammate do this whenever I fill.

1) Lack of communication

Sometimes, my opponents happen to chunk my health and force me to immediately retreat. Once I get to my tower, I start recalling, but unfortunately, I hear "An ally has been slain" with my lane opponent getting a kill. My bot lane teammate is still alive so who died? Oh crap...

To make things even worse, my Jungle teammate blames me for not following up, despite not having sent a ping or anything. Basically, if you come to gank but don't communicate, I may not make the appropriate follow-up. Yes, I am at fault for lack of map awareness, but so are you for the lack of communication.

2) Lane tax

Lane tax works like this: You gank my lane, give me an advantage (lower enemy HP significantly, blow spell, score kill), and take a few minions.

What lane tax is not: You come to my lane to take a minion.

Look, I understand the Jungler's lack of gold. I know how painful it is to live on a welfare check. However, the minion wave in my lane is quite sensitive when it comes to tactics like dueling or denying resources.

3) Not knowing your champion.

Depending on your champion, you should focus on ganking, dueling, or farming. If you are trying to gank 24/7 with someone like Master Yi, expect me to facepalm. Same goes for farming as a Jarvan or dueling the enemy Trundle as Sejuani.

Even worse, I have teammates who screw up the whole team in champ select by insta-locking a FotM Jungler like Sejuani without knowing how to play that Jungler. Then, he/she will start the game and cost us by not even knowing how to play that champion.

Those are just my pet peeves whenever I have to fill another role.

Ugh, finally someone who understands how it works, from both sides.

I argue yes. The tax isn't just for the gold. It's also for the experience. Scoring a kill doesn't really give much experience compared to Jungle creeps. Because of this, I usually stay and take a minion while staying for a bit more xp.

It's just perplexing to me sometimes (I didn't see the comment, though).

People are like "why can't I take camps if jungler taxes me!" and I'm like:

  1. Junglers don't get as much gold/xp by farming
  2. Smite buffs are important, especially chickens/whatever they're called
  3. Junglers (at least the good ones) only tax if they give you some sort of advantage
  4. Junglers don't ask for ganks in their jungle (well, usually) and then expect to not give you something in return (laner usually only tries to get the kill in that case)
  5. There's no minion in lane that gives an incredible buff that the jungler feels entitled to, walks into your lane, and just takes it without asking and then blames the laner when they complain about it.

But the issue is on both sides, they really need to get along and understand their roles.

What's the etiquette if the Jungler comes to gank and ends up scoring the kill himself? Should there still be a tax?

generally if the jungle scores a kill they should not need to tax unless there is only a minion or two and a full wave with you that you can run to the tower to die or help you get major damage down on the tower.

A general rule though that i learned from a high plat jungle main was that you dont tax if you get a kill or assist.

Now if you do get the kill or assist but your lane has died or has to back and there is a huge wave that is gonna crash into your turret then by all means clear the wave rather than let it go to waste.

I would still tax, though lightly.

The reason for taxing is not just for gold. It is also for a boost of experience. A kill does not grant much experience compared to a Jungle camp. Because of that, I personally take a minion and stay while my laning partner kills a few more.

Generally, their are only two times I would tax lane,

  1. if there pushed against our tower because someone can't control the minion wave.

  2. If I intend to take a tower.

In the former case, it's usually because my laner died before I could give him a gank, and his opponent is trying to bonce the wave off the turret. In the latter case, I usually do this when I have the best wave clear, (which is somewhat unlikely.)

Over all, my intent is to get the Laner's fed. Take all the farm you want.

Non-jungle mains just don't get it.

so this point bugs me

  1. communication idk about this one, I never felt the need to ping to get your attention when you ENEMY jungler comes waltzing into your lane YOU SEE THAT SHIT BUT YOU DONT SEE ME? REALLY???? I should buy amumu and sob in a corner

My personal pet peeve... not camping YOUR Nasus Nasus and Jungler should have a mutual relationship, these 2 mofos were MADE for each other I'm not saiyan, Nasus is in desperate need of a gank.. he can be doing perfectly fine

It just MAKES SENSE to me, that you should camp Nasus

  1. the more Nasus free farms, the more he rewards you mid/late game
  2. 9/11 the other guy is pushed
  3. Nasus's wither is gonna get you a kill fo sure lol

It's an easy win win situation and I just hate seeing junglers not capitalizing on free muneys top lane

Still it is nice to know that the ally jungler is coming so that way the laner can set up their lane. Also when i see the enemy jungler. It is because they walk past a ward that I placed, and honestly sometimes when I see my ally jungler happen to be in my lane I second guess if that is my jungler or not. I didn't know that they we coming to my lane and since I am so focused on CS, trading, and not getting ganked I forget who my jungler is.

Trust me, you will have a more successful gank if you ping and your laner is ready for you.

WW player "I can't gank until lvl6"

I can understand that's when a champ gets their ult, but sometimes you need to show up, to save an ally/turret. But so many games our WW will sit there and smack gromp around while our top laner cowers behind our turret with their laner 3 lvls ahead. Then when they do get lvl6, they'll gank for mid or bot and die because they hit their lvl6 power spike but at this point enemy laners are 7 or 8. Every champ jungles a different way and does different things fills different roles serves different purposes. But too often I feel people will pick jngle for the single reason that no matter what mistake they make or what their team says, their excuses are unlimited as to off set blame. Are we losing? Not the jungler's fault you are behind. No ganks? Can't gank a losing lane. What if you are ahead and they won't gank? Oh why gank a lane that is ahead? Jungler taking kills? Oh if you are mad they won't gank for you anymore. Ect.

I feel like a person in the jungle position is often inclined with the mentality it's a blame free role that gives them the freedom to extend their introspective to an enviroment not conductive for it. I try to take into consideration my team comp, enemy team comp, and minion waves when I jungle and position of myself in timing to when to gank a lane if it's produtive to or not.

As a Warwick and Jungle main, please allow me to explain here. Warwick doesn't gank "better" with his ult. He virtually can't gank without it. A level 5 or under Warwick can, at most, summoner 4 item 3706 Q to "initiate," then chase for kills. It works in the right situations, but you can almost never rely on it. It's most often a waste of time for a WW to gank pre 6.

And it takes no more than 8 minutes max for a WW to powerfarm to level 6, in Silver for that matter. Is it that hard to play safe for less than 10 minutes?

As for jungle being a "blame free role." Jungle mains do sometimes adopt that attitude, but that's only because they get ALL of the team blame. And those points they throw out are all true. If a laner loses because he/she was camped by the enemy jungler, it's not your jungler's fault. Unless they walked into lane, taxed for no reason, then died, it's not the jungler's fault.

"Can't gank a losing lane." Not always true, but I'd rather let my botlane lose than feed their jungler 2-3 kills in a failed gank. "Why gank a winning lane?" That depends on the game. Sometimes it's not worth it, sometimes it is. Depends on the greater reward. Ganks aren't about kills. Though kills are always nice. Jungler gets mad at laner, won't gank. Only bad junglers do that.

As a jungler/Nasus top player, I almost never gank for a Nasus. All he needs to do is farm. He doesn't need to get kills, doesn't need tower. Once he's around level 5, he can usually last hit under tower too. As a Nasus player, when I die to ganks, I laugh to myself and return to lane. If the enemy jungler wants to end laning phase and take my tower, let him. More stacks for me when waves push toward me. On the other hand, I don't want ganks unless I can't farm whatsoever. I don't want you speeding up laning if I'm winning.

Ganks aren't just for kills. Sometimes you need to show up and let your laner grab some farm or let them recall w/o losing a turret.

Junglers also have to learn to ward. Its good to ward early game to see if other lanes are being ganked

{quoted} 2) Lane tax

Lane tax works like this: You gank my lane, give me an advantage (lower enemy HP significantly, blow spell, score kill), and take a few minions.

Look, I understand the Jungler's lack of gold. I know how painful it is to live on a welfare check. However, the minion wave in my lane is quite sensitive when it comes to tactics like dueling or denying resources.

Explain this idea of lane tax being needed please, because frankly it's never made sense for me. If I'm running in the jungle with Lee/Naut/J4 I have never once felt that I should tax a lane for CS, even if I gank bot lane and give a free double kill over to my ADC. Why? Because my job isn't going to be to do tons of damage in a team fight I will either start the fight if I'm Naut/J4 in which case I'm quick to get everything in my kit off causing as much disruption as possible and if I die I don't care at that point as I've done my job and if I ganked well and got my team ahead they will most likely have won the team fight off of my disruption.

If I'm someone like a Lee I'm not looking to team fight so much as duel or create picks via insecing enemy squishies. Again I don't need more gold than that and I've been successful in pulling this off with a little as a sightstone.

I might understand it to some extent if I'm on a heavy scaling jungler, say a Shyvana for example, who with good farm can become a nightmare with her tankiness and AoE damage in team fights but even then I've found I can do plenty with just counter jungling like mad to bury the enemy jungler and make the game effectively 4v5.

I just don't get this whole lane tax idea, maybe it's because I tend to jungle champs with solid amounts of utility that can be effective without the gold, but I've always felt I would rather have that gold on my carries than on me.
