It's time to start balancing Blitzcrank

I honestly don't care if he wasn't designed for bot lane. That's where he's being played in almost all of his games. Blitzcrank has a tool for engaging, and tons of CC, like most supports, but unlike other supports, he has abilities that scale 100% with AP. Almost no supports scale that well, with the exception of Annie (who may also need some nerfs in the future).

Blitzcrank has WAAAAAAAAY more issues than "His Q scales too high!"

It's not just his 'q'. His ult scales just as well.

I don't think you quite got my post. Allow me to generalize.

Blitzcrank's scalings are, in no capacity, related to any of his problems.

You haven't made a point. You keep saying "Way more issues", and you haven't addressed any of them. And yes people usually don't build AP on blitzcrank, but his base damage is so high you don't even need to.

So I have to go into a complete explanation. Okay. Explanation time.

Innate Passive grants him high survivability, and the shield lasts forever so there's no counterplay to it.

Q, on top of the insanely long ranged grab, comes with a free 1 second stun afterwards, which can then be followed by a 1 second knockup, which is then followed by a .5 second silence. This is nearly a 3 full seconds of "completely unable to flash away or react in any capacity."

W is an 8 second 32% MS steroid. That's all it could be and it'd be ludicrous. People always complain about dashes when they talk about mobility creep, but I see all these old champions with long lasting, highly powerful MS steroids, and I'd much rather chase a Yasuo or a Riven over a Blitz any day of the week. Oh, and did I mention that at 40% CDR it's an 8 second MS boost with a 9 second cooldown?

Ult has basically no cooldown and, most aggitatingly, accidentally steals CS from your laning partner with the random damage. The worthless, unreliable, random damage.

So yeah. His scalings aren't the reason he's a giant pain in the ass, and changing them to 80% or 60% or even 0% wouldn't fix anything other than punishing people who want to do something more interesting with Blitz than sit bot lane and be a big, boring, non-interactive threat. He has a kit designed around punishing someone for being out of position while simultaneously having a kit devoted to keeping him from being punished for being out of position.

I don't agree with any of this. There's nothing wrong with Blitzcrank's kit. His base damage and scaling is simply too high.

Then you're a moron. Blitz punishes people for being out of position and in turn has a bunch of tools to make sure he's never punished for being out of position. He could have an AP ratio of 0% and he's still be hugely problematic. Do you know how I know this?

I see Blitzes building 0 AP and wrecking face.

And his base damage doesn't contribute to that at all, right? LOL. Tell me one other support who has base damage that high. Even Annie's base damage isn't that good.

*No it doesn't. Blitz could literally have all of the damage removed on his abilities and he would still be a problem. What part of this is so hard for you to wrap your tiny brain around? Blitz's damage output is the single least important part of his kit. His perpetual threat for his pull, his strong defensive options, his low cooldown knockup, and his unreliable minion zapping are all far, far more relevant in a discussion about fixing Blitz than "We should knock his damage down a notch!" *

I've managed to stay civil throughout this conversation. All you've done is flame. Go use your big kid words somewhere else. No one is impresed. Blitzcranks's CC is what makes him unique. I don't want to nerf that. If we took away some of his damage, he'll still be useful with his CC, but his kill potential wouldn't be as high. I do agree with you on his passive though. It's unreliable and annoying at best.

Nobody builds AP on Blitzcrank.

I gotta say, out of all the things to complain about... you complain about AP scaling? Like Devi says, nobody builds AP on support Blitzcrank. And is there an army of mid Blitzcranks dominating the metagame? Uhh, no.

As it stands, it is much better for support Blitz to build tank instead of AP because first off, most AP items don't give mana, which increases his innate tankiness from his passive, which wouldn't be a problem if he built tank, which he is not doing if he builds AP (We don't consider Zhonyas and Rylais items that make him tankier, just cause it's common sense). Building tank like the standard Targon's gives much more versatility because you don't die in 2 seconds.

As a semi-Blitzcrank main, as much as it hurts to say, his kill potential may be a bit overtuned. But c'mon, AP scaling? Really?

No one's forcing you to build tanky, so I'm not buying that argument. That's YOUR choice, not mine. AP is perfectly viable if you choose to take advantage of his ratios.

Anyways, I admit that there are other ways we could deal with Blitzcrank. Just because you think his CC is an issue, doesn't mean I have to agree with you, and I don't. I guess I thought that if we nerfed his base damage/scaling on his damaging abilities, he'd have less kill potential but still be viable. We have several options for nerfing Blitzcrank. We can either nerf his damage or his CC. I chose the former.

Truly Prideful1 votes

Who cares about the scaling? I just want to see that wonky hitbox cleaned up and I would be fine with them. Same to you over there Morgana.

I want him removed from support and kept solo lane because thats where I enjoy him most. But I know other people don't want that, so I wish they could find a way to balance his power in both roles so that one isn't made entirely useless. My idea would be to heavily up the mana cost on his Q, but thats just me.

Blitz's kit isn't meant to be measured around the damage he deals. At best, the utility he brings to the table to turn around games is what actually makes his kit hard to balance.
