Despite having more cs than the enemy ezreal and having more towers taken, he still finished his 4th item before I could even finish my 3rd. Why is this even allowed?

Are you playing an AP champ? the AP items are the most expensive in the game over all. Support, tank and AD items are way cheaper. Late game come and even though i've had a steady roll on team fights i'm like finishing my 4th item

Yeah, I was building item 3089 as 3rd item, as soon as I got my 2nd item 1058, I noticed ezreal already had item 3158 item 3042 item 3025 item 3026 item 3072

"Holy shit adc items are so cheap." Even if we concede that "ADC items" are a thing, most of those aren't ADC items. And item 3072 is the second most expensive item in the game, only beaten by item 3078 by 33 gold. Those items you listed have more gold value in items than what you had. At that point in the game, you spent 10.2k while Ezreal had spent 12.4K.
