Windspeakers & athenes bloodcharges why not make them apply on self casts

I wish the passive bloodcharge effect which heals would apply to self healing and shielding i wish the windspeaker mastery would do the same with its bonus resistances

Just something that would be nice for alot of champions i think, and make both the mastery aswell as this item more generally usefull.

Right now both are incredibly useless on alot of champions, doing this makes the items more usefull on chmapions with limited shields/heals

For example Lulu can't really make great use of either yes it helps a bit but you can only shield one target every so often. It boosts things a bit, but thunderlords is far more usefull right now for better trading.

Orianna could use it, then again as a mage roa might be better as does thunderlords for the added burst.

For most champions its simply sub optimal and both really can't compete that well with other items and masteries.

Allowing this to apply to self makes them competetive with other options in trading sustain/bulk for burst or mobility or dps.

Currently there is only a handull of champions who can use these like Alistar, Sona, Soraka & Nami It is sub optimal on alot of other champions barring very specific situations like a protect the hyper carry composition like juggermaw in which case as many buffs and boosts as possible is what you want.

I just find both the item and mastery pretty lackluster right now

If it was changed the on heal/shield effects should really only apply to actual shields and heals not regeneration effects to prevent abuse cases lets be honest here this would be stupid on swain so something like that would then have to be classified as a regenration effect same as the eternity passive on catalyst items and other such things like lifesteal and spellvamp

because they're supportive masteries/items and not tanky masteries/items.

Why not both?

Because if they were balanced around the tanky use case, they would need to be severely nerfed and would become useless for the supportive use case. Imagine a Vlad with a permanent Armor/MR bonus thanks to Windspeaker? That's a VERY scary thought. Imagine a Trundle, or a Mundo.

This makes sense. Thank you!

Windspeakers could easily break champions like Trundle if it was made available on self-heals.

Athene's appyling on self-heal could easily become unbearable on champions like Lux. Getting MR, a shield, and quite a decent heal at the same time could mean she easily out-trades AP champions even if they manage to outplay her range and get close.

oh fuck. that would make trundle busted as hell

for the exact reason riot has nerfed grasp and the 20 health mastery lots of times.

To prevent infinite sustain, a lulu mid could stay mid forever with athenes, and be unkillable because of the bonus resistances.

hmm the 20 health mastery was crowding out the other masteries, I dont think it gave way too much healing though it was pretty strong in the first few levels. Buffing the other masteries wasn't an option i think so nerfing the 20 hp one waas the logic choice.

The bonus resistances scale up to 22/11 at level 18! thats hardly unkillable!

Though athenes would give decent sustain so can other items like rod of ages. You have to realize it fills up an item slot which could also fit other items which give damage or sustain or utility.

The health regen isnt that great on most mages either as they have low base health regen.

Having the ability to use these things on oneself would just make them more competetive options for more supportive champions in different positions like mid top and jungle.

The item/mastery is pretty useless if there arent allies neabry to use it on and the healing/shielding scales with level so it wouldn't be that strong early on anyway, at least not stronger then the burst/dps/mobility/tank options to choose from.

Right now they just seem like they will go the ohmwrecker way and hardly be used.

Taking such utility champions and building a utility item like athenes anywhere but botlane on a sona just sems like shooting yourself in the foot right now.

at 45% CDR, Lulu can perma shield a target.

No it isn't.

Tlords falls off after laning phase on pretty much everything, but especially on a support that isn't building damage like Lulu. Tlords is just the cheesy braindead pick mastery as a whole.
