The Problem with Zed and Lee

I think we can all agree that Zed and Lee Sin have some of the highest skillcaps in the game.

When mastered, a champion with a high skillcap should be more rewarding than a faceroll champion, otherwise there would be no incentive to learn how to play them, correct?

This is where the issue lies. Both Zed and Lee Sin are extremely rewarding even when not mastered. Champions with a high skillcap should be a burden to a team when the player is not skilled enough to use them to their full potential.

Because they can be so ridiculously powerful when mastered, it only makes sense that they should be ridiculously underpowered if you have no idea how to play them.

Currently, both aforementioned champions are missing this balance. I've played Lee Sin a total of maybe 10 times in my LoL career, and yet I can still wreck teams by landing the occasional Q.

If we want these champions to be balanced, then they need to be shit tier in the hands of someone who just picked them up because they're FotM, but god-tier in the hands of a skilled, experienced player.

... No... A bad lee is bad. Just awful. Completely terrible. Without fully understanding his damage potential and mastering his mechanics he is a horribly gimped champion that can be outdueled by almost the entire meta. His mobility gives him the ability to make ganks and escapes that other champs can't, that's it.

It's a powerful advantage, but not one that 99% of lee players can unlock. In all seriousness you are looking at a requirement of playing over 500 games with to get decent with him.

Zed, yes. Lee, fuck no. A bad or even average Lee is an absolute liability to have on your team and literally any other meta jungler would be better. If your jungler picks Lee, you had better hope he's good or you're gonna have an effective 4v5 on your hands.
