Off Meta Choices

Whenever such a choice works out, it's hardly noticed. Whenever such a choice doesn't work out (and everything fails sometimes, otherwise we'd all be Challenger), you get blamed for it.

What is everyone's experience with this?

Played a game with thresh adc last night on my smurf. He carried hard, off meta is fine but certain things should just be common sense not to do.

Been doing duo mage bot with my buddy in ranked. It worked well the first time we tried it since we already had ad assassins for top, mid, jungle so its where we came up with the idea. Although we are like 3-1 doing it, people get really pissed especially if we're the first 2 picks. Or people don't read and pick an adc expecting to go bot.

I think off meta can work and I have seen lots of comps work, but your team needs to be on board. I think with the introduction of Dynamic groups in ranked this season there will be some interesting team comps being played. However, I feel you will need to que up with people to pull it off otherwise your teammates are going to rage or just get confused and mess up your comp.
