@Riot could we get an ETA or your current stance on implementing 5 bans into regular ranked?

5 bans have been part of pro play for a while now and I for one really don't want to have to wait until the mid season update for them. Thus far the only issue in the system is the duration, which can be quickly fixed by everyone banning at the exact same time. It's really that simple, besides people don't usually react to the other teams bans, we just tunnel vision our own bans to ensure our most hated foes never make it onto the rift. It would function like blind pick with an addition. Upon entering champ select all players have 15 seconds to lock in a PREFERENCE! (not a PICK!) that they would not like banned by their own team (this is not visible to the other team). Everyone would then select a champion and would have 30 seconds to ban it, once you ban you can't take it back and change it. As champions are banned they're greyed out (not removed from view as this causes confusion when people try desperately to find said champion) but they're not greyed out when hovered (so you can't see what people are planning to ban, smart people won't even hover bans to begin with). In order to highlight trolls, if a HIGHLIGHTED champion preference is banned by the selected players' team, the banning player is then highlighted with said champion next to their name for the player (who wanted to pick it) to see (they can report them post game for griefing/trolling). In all honesty this system would need to ignore new champions and would only, as the system already does, punish repeat offenders.

If a player DOES NOT ban a champion. The highest ban rate champion not yet banned by the rest of the players will be automatically banned unless it has been selected as a PREFERENCE!, in which case it keeps searching down the list until there're no hits and BAM! insta ban.

By having this all in 2 short, swift processes it will be even faster than current banning phase. And if you believe the time is too short, think of it this way. You have 1 champ to select and 1 champ only, I'm placing my bets that any given player is going to ban only one champion of their own preference EVERY SINGLE GAME! unless someone else wants it.

Edit: WHY THE HELL IS "chi nk" A CENSORED WORD!!!!!

The legacy client has to be retired 1st, they'll do it sometime after the beta is over

Tbh they could safely disable the top 4 banned champions in each division. Add that onto the 6 bans and yay we get our 5 ban system

That is one of the dumbest things I have ever read.

Really? Well assuming the most banned champions remain consistent. Graves, lulu, galio, camille, kat and rengar. Are our 6 bans. Imo it's safe to assume high ban rate champs like lee, yas, zed and fiora would be perma banned anyway if we had the 10 total ban system. (Based on attention they get from community and ban frequency in low elo).

The 10 bans are certainly going to vary, but there'll certainly be common champions that will never see the light of day in ranked play

You could call it bias, but I rarely ever have to deal with any of those champions directly. Only champ I ban atm is graves.

People get mad when riot disables a champion due to bugs - I know I wasn't happy that they disabled rework gangplank for stupid lore reasons (Duh riot isn't going to perma remove a champion that they JUST reworked).

"It's safe to just disable the top 4 bans". Ignoring that the 4 tournament bans happen halfway through pick phase.

I rarely see public out cry screaming at riot to re-enable a bugged champion, who's bug was severe and impactful enough to warrant being disabled in the first place. Using gangplank as an example completely ruins your argument. As you said, we was disabled for lore reasons as he was "dead", yet you present it as if it were evidence of your first claim.

And clearly, you didn't read it in it's entirety. And if you did, you seem to have missed several parts.

I am proposing that everyone bans simultaneously to reduce time spent in champ select. There is no special moment to ban 4 more champions. 10 bans, 10 champions, all done at the same time within a 30 second time frame. Regular ranked is not a tournament, riot added them into that stage of champ select to create tension which results in a more exited audience. We don't need tension, and regardless of what people pick, everyone will ban selfishly and get rid of what ever champion they don't ever want to see in their games.

Nobody cries on forums due to bug disables because it's a damn good reason to disable the champion and it's obviously done so the game doesn't crash.

Lore reasons are not "good" reasons to disable a champion. OBVIOUSLY gangplank didn't die because that would be a blatantly stupid idea from a business perspective and if anyone thought otherwise their age is in the single digits.

Doing all 10 bans at the start is even worse than the tournament system - seriously you think that's supposed to make it a better idea? Yeah WONDERFUL idea just ban half of the commonly played roster. Ignoring this - I'm replying to your stupid idea that it's "alright" for riot to say "ok we're just gonna disable 4 champs because they're banned more often than others".

(btw you're seriously surprised a racial slur is censored?)

Is this primary school? Do I actually have to explain the difference between being annoyed that someone you like to play isn't available and complaining on the forums that the champion you like is unavailable? Are basic language nuances beyond you?

"I like to play Yorick but he's disabled. Oh well I'd rather play the game than have it crash or me go 0/1000 because my ult is bugged".

"I want to play gangplank but Riot thinks it will generate story tension that half the playerbase will ignore and the other half will know doesn't exist because they wouldn't put developer resources into reworking a champion that they'd get rid of a few days later".

Also - The actual reason the tournament bans are spaced out is because it fucks the roster less - It puts tactical depth into the lobby by having them at the end because you can still pick high priority champions in the first 3 picks before bans happen again. This isn't some Riot "esports boo ya" trick basically EVERY moba has that system because banning 10 champions at the start is just stupid.
