Not caring about what gets shifted into the meta isn't an excuse to not tackle fundamental issues.

Because lately that's the impression I get from the Gameplay/Balance team. It's as though the fundamental issues with League now are overlooked or even misunderstood by the people running this game.

And it fucking sucks, man. It leaves the players that do see these problems feel like a mere suffocating voice in the dark. Voices have complained and expressed their concerns in great detail for a while now, and even if you want to take the game into a direction that doesn't cater to said player, it doesn't invalidate their concerns of what's making this game a very different and less enjoyable place today.

INB4: "This post isn't a well-thought out analysis of the fundamental issues currently found in League of Legends." OF COURSE not. Getting visibility on the boards is a battle, and alongside that, simply read the previous paragraph. ^

EDIT: Fundamental issues with League (as of current):

  • Tanks fail to do their job properly aside from a select few; tank itemization was tweaked and some tanks' kits through steroids or low CDs/high base stats are able to properly function as the class they are - arguably giving them the capability to do far more than what they were initially designed to do.

  • Several champions outside of ones INTENDED to burst are now capable of outputting immense burst with little to no counterplay. This is due to a mixture of numbers tuning, new items, new item synergy, and the introduction of Runes Reforged. Namely - RFC+SS combo. Duskblade. The ability for AD to penetrate resistances via Crit, Lethality, and Magic Damage via RFC+SS.

  • Supports have come VERY far, becoming a class as a whole in which acquiring items to contribute to the team or themselves is an easier, expedited process. As a result, they now enable teammates at an earlier point in the game, contributing to the snowballing incessantly complained about. NOTHING has changed in the game to accommodate this change, and because of this, champions paired with supports now have their weaknesses better covered. No damage has been reduced / numbers lowered / pacing slowed to account for this major alteration of the functioning of an entire class' contribution to other players. Damage and bypassing weaknesses is not the answer to healthily increase game pacing.

  • A callback to point #2, we've now got items that heavily cover champion's times of intended weakness. Coin hands us gold and is accessible to all - as does Klepto, effectively. Duskblade offers a massive spike beyond it's cost and invisible power/burst, contradicting Riot's design philosophy. RFC+SS is a ridiculous magic damage combination to help bypass itemization VS crit ADCs, leaving it less necessary to position properly against targets that have itemized against them - despite having access to Lethality/%HP difference/Sustain mitigation/Crit to bypass their targets.

I get angry everytime I see someone complain that Riot is out to only cater to ADCs, because I disagree. But I don't disagree that they have TOO many tools to circumvent summoners itemizing to deal with them if it's not on a meta Tank.

  • Not all Bruisers can function in a game where the balance is being handled by largely creeping variables to deal with other overbearing variables, because they quite literally can't keep up. Atop that, CDR being heavily accessible to even tanks with high base stats leaves them unable to outduel their INTENDED TARGETS. Top Lane is in a disgusting spot right now, and Bruisers were not taken into consideration for S8.

  • The Jungle as a whole has been relegated to what I'd go so far as to call a JOKE. Jungling is not the difficult task it was seasons prior, and while you may argue the increased accessibility is healthy to the game for pulling in more players, I have to vehemently disagree. This is partly due to the alteration of the camps' stats, the shift in the Jungler meta, and the introduction to the Healing Plants(whatever they're called). The #1 Korean Jungler does little more than farm his buffs and camp a certain lane until his laner can function VERY well alone, then chooses another lane to do this. It's a strategy that has him SOARING in ranks and stomping games. He has a preference to Bot or Top, because Mid is between the two and easiest for the opposing Jungler to consistently match his ganks at.

This game is NOT in a "healthy, balanced state" just because some people are having good games or playing champions/roles that are in a better state than others. And I STRONGLY feel that Riot should step back with their need to introduce new champions until they can give these issues the attention they need rather than be happy catering to the players that, due to their interests, have found themselves playing a more enjoyable League. It's not fucking fair, man.

Would have been cool if you added in some of those fundamental issues they're overlooking :D.

As ill informed as I usually am on a lot of subjects in regards to League, it would definitely help my case as well. Too many people make threads and just assume I know everything under Riot's virtual sun. Like I'm some unrelenting stalker that keeps a log for everything they do.

FALSE! Every tank right now except Naut and Amumu is viable right now!

Supports have come VERY far, becoming a class.....

You completely forgot the part where Supports are also just stronger in general. You said they're stronger earlier, but they are stronger overall.

Bruisers were not taken into consideration for S8.

CORRECT!.jpg How did no one realize within the month of Runes Reforged being on the PBE that 1/5th of league's champions lacked a keystone? How could they forget that balancing a lot of champions around Fervor, then removing Fervor, might make them shit?

Thank god someone says it.
