Counterplay to Camille?

I joke about this in games with Camille a lot, but I legitimately am unsure as to what Camille's counterplay is supposed to be.

I've read several threads on the subject, and the consensus seems to be "Buy Zhonyas or Guardian Angel"... Which, as has been said time and time again on these boards, is not counterplay.

My main issue is with her Hookshot, which is at essentially a 6 second cooldown for the longest and fastest dash in the game (1600... And can go over walls. With a stun attached.) This type of mobility, coupled with her stickiness, needs to be looked at.

My biggest issue is that "Dodge the Hookshot" seems to be another common theme, even though this can simply be used as a gapcloser to get in range for her slow, or her ult... Which truly has no counterplay. "Push her out of the ult" is not an acceptable argument to me, considering there are only a select handful of champions capable of doing this.

Jarvan's ult can at least be flashed out of, and it also traps himself and anyone else inside of it. Camille's actually has no counterplay to it. You're trapped and there's literally nothing you can do about it except pray you're fed enough to kill her.

The champ herself is not necessarily broken. She has a higher than average winrate for people that main her, but she's only moderate on the majority of players. I just find the mobility problem in this game extremely antifun, and Camille is the cherry on top in terms of mobility creep.

Would just like some thoughts on how to deal with Camille, since the only one I can come up with is to stand in the middle of your base (since that's the only place she can't reach with her hookshot).

Try playing Camille yourself. You will notice that your ult doesn't mean you can 1v1 your enemy. No, timing is really difficult, as you have to be alone for sure (no jungler) or even 2v1 your enemy. You have to make sure that you deal more damage than your laner. Other than that, for example, Master Yis Q dodges the ult and some other abilities. The other ways for counterplay are really defeating her. Many champs on toplane such as Teemo (freaking Yordles), Jax or Shen do have an AA block - which is her primary, if not only, damage source - so you can survive her ult. Other toplaners are champs who deal similar or even more damage, so kill her! :D And besides that, the ult has a high cooldown and just like playing against, for example, Xayah bot, you have to wait for/bait the ult.

I know the E is tough though... But in the early game, it has a really high cooldown as well.

There are ways to counterplay Camille's ultimate, most notably things like Vladimir pool and Maokai W which cause temperary untargetableness. Timing it correctly stops the ultimate.

Maokai W has to find a target that is not Camille as when she ults she becomes untargettable. Fizz and Vladimir are the most reliable i can think of.

This is very easy to do off of a minion while in laning phase.

well i would recommend playing a champion with either: an untargetability spell(fizz e, vlad w) or an auto attack prevention ability(shen w, teemo is a really good one). What is also very important is dodging her E as it prevents her from getting attackspeed and a stun. Another thing is, walk diagonally towards her when you want to dodge her w.
