You have a fraction of a second to see the ult animation start for you to spell shield so you can spell shield it if you're extremely quick. Kind of like how Tryndamere turns around right before his W so you can quickly change the direction you're facing

Weird, because I once faced a Fiora as Nasus and she would always Riposte (W) my Wither (W) even when I did it from ofg of war and she had no vision of the brush.

Often you just have to walk up to him pretending to attack and then press spell shield. Works more often than you think

any half decent malz will first throw out the silence though

if you spell shield it you cant shield the ult, if you dont well then ur silenced and still can't shield the ult

We're talking freelo abusers here of couse this won't work on a Malz main as he will always put the visions on you first which will 100% deactivate the spell shield. At that point you need QSS

Since Malzahar has 500 range now it's also rather easy to pop his spellshield by simply last hitting with your E on.

Comedy gold right there, lets's throw another funfact:

-Heimdinger's turrets can be smited so just smite his Upgraded Turret and you can get it shut down insanely fast, greatly minimizing its power and making the donger waste his ultimate too.

Actually this trick doesn't work until mid to late game, because early levels smite doesn't do enough dmg to kill the turret.

If you're talking about his basic turrets, they only start out with 150 health, and their health grow is negligible compared to the damage growth of Smite. Heimer would need a lot of AP to make his turrets survive a single Smite. About the upgraded turrets, the jungler should never be able to one hit kill them with smite even late game (see my other reply)

Lux 's E will proc his spellshield passive from the slow alone before you detonate it, after it's gone u can detonate it on him

Back in Season 4 I ran into a player who locked in Veigar summoner 11 against Heimerdinger . All he said in pregame chat was "smite mid for obvious reasons".

I've tested it out for the first few levels, the pattern is 140 + 15 * lvl (410 at level 18). The only way you can't instantly kill them is if Malzahar is level 18 and you're level 1.

Played Vel into him when he was released. Just leveled my rift and watched as a double Rift cleared the whole minion wave, plus 4-5 voidlings, and he never bothered to stop using them. I really wanted a post-game stat that said how much gold he fed me just off voidlings.

Love it. As a Malzahar player, I know that his w is really frustrating. I think that spell needs a nerf but Riot continues nerfing his passive. Don't get me wrong, I love that nerf aswell as the range nerf. ^^ (Using the guy when he was still under the radar btw.) But I feel the w can be nerf too.

Anyway, I tend to like more the e since it goes well with item 3165
