Season 5: OMG MANA IS NOW A RESOURCE I HAVE TO MANAGE PROPERLY OR INVEST MORE THAN 880G INTO?! BLASTPHEMY!!!!!!1111!1!!!1two

Not that I deny some mages have been left behind (cough 130 mana lucent singularity cough) but c'mon - most of you guys bitched about chalice making mages essentially resource-less champions and now Riot did something about it, half the front page are in tears (pro-tip, use your qq to charge an acutal Tear) over the fact you actually have a resource to manage!

The flip side of the coin is that manaless champs don't manage a resource and generally don't lose anything for it. Why should I manage a resource when I could just play Zed or Yasuo and just spam my (equally powerful if not stronger) abilities on CD with little to no consequence?

Mana deserved a hit of sorts but it was incredibly stupid to do it while leaving manaless champs completely alone. Anyone could have seen the imbalance coming.

And frankly I would argue mana was hit too hard anyway. You can go double Morello or Morello + Grail and still run out of mana randomly, after investing literally 5k in mana regen.

No, see you have to get grail and tear, because the new grail(/chalice/crucible) passive is only really effective with vast quantities of mana.

'Cause the best fix was to tie an item's effectiveness into a stat you don't have on the item.

Sounds like Atma's Impaler all over again.

Because the resourceless champions are just way better now. That 5k gold you can invest in items just to get more mana they can invest in that much more damage. And they seemingly have almost no drawbacks for that. So they're just like 5k gold better than the mana champions once they're like level 9 or so and the mana costs get really high so you need a lot of extra mana.

Before the nerfs, manaless champions already had spell kits that were similar in power to mana-gated champions, and mid was already ruled by manaless champs. The nerfs just pushed mana based champions out even further.

Then maybe, just maybe, Riot should actually hit these problematic champions.

Mana should be a limiter, that's why is exists - to gate spells beyond cooldowns if you wspam them mindlessly. Zed and Yas are offenders are will be consistently hit whenever they become popular, but that doesn't mean Lux should be able to clear waves with impunity because she spent
