Why Darius needs buffs.@Morello read this

Before you click the downvote actually READ THIS.

Also any numbers used in here can be CHANGED, don't think I'm saying it has to be a certain way.

What is wrong with Darius? He along with many other bruisers(Garen, Olaf, Gangplank, etc.) are no longer considered viable due to how out of control the league of mobility is, Kalista makes this even worse as today every new champion and reworked champions mother has an escape.

But why would I talk about Darius and not the other champs? Gangplank is getting a rework so I can't say much on him(note Darius's got "shelved"), Garen along with Darius are both lane bullies who although have similar ults, Garen has a better escape than Darius in lane, can be a huge sponge late game, and against popular belief, Garen's ult is better on Tanks than Darius(when low health of course). Olaf is just in a terrible position after his rework, olaf'd olaf was better than todays olaf.

But what truly makes Darius need buffs? When Darius was released he was seen as overpowered and I will agree his old ult's time to refresh was indeed bull, his first set of nerfs were more or less seen as acceptable(though I'm not sure about the bleed damage nerf, early-mid game nerf?).

Darius was fine after that, he was more or less balanced but the nerf that shot out his kneecaps and put him in need of a rework was the ult nerf which his entire kit revolved around. His kit was all about getting a person low health and then execute them, ending the game before 25-30 minutes because of how he will start to fall off. Now, if you try to ult your lane opponent, they will come back to lane and you can't even shut them down as a lane bully because your one tool to shut them down is down for another minute which also makes you even more exposed to being ganked.

His nerf after to his pull really put him down(range is 540 from 550 and there is now a wind-up time) as he now gets kited even harder because of it. This nerf should be reverted as it will help with him being kited but then again it probably won't.

Now what buffs does Darius ACTUALLY need? Now read this buff CAREFULLY, I keep getting responses saying it's his old ult when it IS NOT.

Buff: Darius ult now FULLY RESETS on kill BUT he can't cast his ult on the same person for 120/100/80 seconds, cooldown reduction reduces this. The gist of this is he has his current ult technically against his lane opponent but now he can roam to the mid lane and invade the jungler with his ult still up(asserting his early game dominance). Think of Yasuo E, he can dash but then has to wait 5-6 seconds to dash them again. Is this buff really that bad?

This next buff is more of a tradeoff, it's a buff and a nerf. His W now functions differently, instead of reducing attack speed it now reduces the damage the enemy does for the same duration. Darius is an anti-duelist and Riot has said how they wish to remove his attack speed slow as it makes him an unfair duelist(see Lee Sin's overloaded kit) but this buff/nerf keeps him as an anti-duelist but he can't slow their attack speed anymore. The damage reduction would be something like 15/20/25/30/35% for I believe the slow is 2.5 second so the same thing. Another thing is he can choose to max Q or W in lane depending on his lane opponent instead of max Q if you want damage(this wouldn't always happen, probably used vs strong duelists), this doesn't reduce true damage so worry not olaf/irelia fans.

What are your thoughts? Did you read this? Do you agree with this? Why do you disagree with this?

Also a side note do you think Darius should get a slight movespeed buff seeing as he has no mobility type move(massive speed boost/dash), maybe buff it to 345?

Please read in depth and actually understand this, I presented this idea 4 months ago and people thought it was just a nerf revert.

Darius was not selected to be viable this year. So no buffs will happen. Try again next year! :) #Riot"Balance"

A consideration they could give towards changing Darius would be to give him some sort of movement speed buff. His pull is worthless if he can't get close to the enemy. I'd say keep his w, but give him a slight movement speed increase when active, otherwise you have to flash, pull, and hope they don't flash away.

How is it a tradeoff to reduce damage instead of just reducing attack speed? That's just better. The purpose of reducing attack speeds to reduce damage. If you're just reducing damage, then that hits their ability damage as well, and it means that his dueling power will just be higher in general. I mean, a 35% damage reduction is justplain better in every way than a 40% attack speed reduction. A 20% damage reduction would be better than a 40% attack speed slow. Don't market this as a tradeoff. It's giving up one effect to get a superior effect. It's a buff. It's also a bad buff because it would make him massively overpowered instantly. Seriously, cutting a carry's damage by that muc hlate game is a major thing.

The numbers can be changed but that's the gist of it, im not saying it SHOULD be 35%, that's just an example.

I don't think there is a number you can give it that would make it work. It could be 25% or even 10% and it would be better, and if it was 10% it would have to start at 2% at level 1, which would just be stupid.

More importantly, what does it accomplish? What problem does it fix? You said that RIot wanted to get rid of the attack speed debuff to lower Darius' dueling power. How does giving him a "you do less damage" effect make that any better? The entire reason the attack speed debuff is a problem is because it cuts the enemy's damage massively. Having it cut damage directly just means that it would still be a good dueling tool because it would screw with enemy damage, but it would also be good for dueling against ability based enemies. The only people it won't be as good against would be AD carries late game, but since it will be more effective late against every other class and it will still be pretty good against them, that's still a major net buff.

I don't see what the point is unless you're trying to make him a major anticarry. It certainly doesn't help solve the problem Riot posited.

Happy to see that the presentation has improved. I don't really play as or against Darius much, so I can't really comment on the balance or changes, but I just wanted to post and let you know I approve of the new format.

I did this before but nobody bothers to read and say he's op and is sleeper op that deserves no buffs.
