Am I the only one which doesn't like to play the game anymore and prefer watching it to be played ?

i used to play 4 games a day during 6 years now i rarely play 1 game per day and it feels boring and frustrating to play the game.

The only way while i can enjoy LoL is through youtube videos or streamers.

Am I the only one thinking this about the actual state of the game ?

for me it changed to much, it feels not the same.

No, trust me you're not the only one

Well I feel like riot changed the game specifically for flashy plays and highlights, so those videos and 'pro play montages' or 'ONE SHOT insert champ here IS 100% BROKEN" yt videos are pretty much what they are aiming for. It brings people in and has quick gratification for the player when they can stomp the enemy team regardless of skill level. All of my games have been either stomp or get stomped. Sometimes the stompee loses though because they spend time trolling and stuff instead of ending the game efficiently.

Idk.... was talking to my friend about this yesterday. The game doesn't feel as rewarding as it used to towards skill and more-so towards building these insane AD items so you can plow through the entire enemy team. Some people complain about AP being busted but at least they have a mana pool to manage and are generally squishy and immobile. Zoe is pretty annoying with her constant summs/free item effects and huge damage + cc. Most of the AP items are expensive and they have cooldowns to deal damage instead of firing off a bajillion auto attacks a second.

Plus some champs hurt like a bitch but are also extremely mobile/slippery (kayn, yi, yasuo, etc). Assassins like Pyke get easy pentas by cleaning up after a teamfight whether they were losing or not. Stuff like that ruins the game for me. I can't reliably counter these things since zhonyas cooldown is so long. No amount of running will keep a wall ghosting kayn off of me. :\

Turret plating gold, bounties, scuttle, rift herald... all these things result in the winning team snowballing even faster than before. It's no mistake that things are this way. I guess riot doesn't think that players have the attention span to play games without all of the handholding.

watching the game is just as boring as playing

I don't prefer either. Waiting to see if s9 turns anything around, but I doubt it. The hard truth about situations like these is most people don't rage out and get angry and post about how they are leaving. Most people just get too frustrated, lose interest, turn away and never look back.

You are not. Generally I much prefer watching streamers play it / critically analyze it than anything. My main issue with Riot is that they seem to put 10 game impacting bugs every patch, then fix 1 (but not really it is still there). It's just starting to reallllly come off as incompetence. I'm a developer so I have a lot of first hand experience in seeing the signs that this game is based on really old, really bad code that does not scale. Then they're trying to get all these ever flashier, ever better champions instead of trying to improve baseline experience for everyone but instead focus on the "Yasuo" like champions.

I don't like watching it either. People still die instantly and there's still no strategy involved. How's that fun to watch?

Crystalysk5/19/2019, 4:18:50 PM3 votes

While i'm not enjoying the game as much as before i think it is just me being used to something that now is extremely different than the way it was. You can see me play more aram lately, which is the fgame mode i hated the most... But now i'm having more fun playing it than solo queue...

I think i just couldn't adapt to the new meta and stuff. I enjoy watching streamings tho.

I prefer watching too. (Especially games without Yasuo Zed LeeSin Lucian Vayne Thresh Jax )

I'm the outlier here. I like playing the game but hate watching it. I can watch Dota 2 esports for days though.

That's overwatch for me. Hate playing it now, love watching teams be bomb af

I used to like to play League and I used to like to watch League. Then I only liked to watch League. Now, that Sylas is in the game, I don't even like to watch it anymore. He should be either removed from the game, completely reworked, or at the very least, banned from competitive play. So many champions have a huge swath of their power budget wrapped up in their ultimate, and this dude with a AP scaling shield, dash, stun and self heal can just steal them with a point and click ability and an 8 second cooldown? If he actually had to use his dash and shield to get close to steal it, that would be one thing, but with a 1050 range he can pretty much just take whatever he wants on a drive-by. That's not really ok and it's not really good for the game, either. I wanted to throttle the shoutcasters everytime they jizzed their screen because of some Sylas "outplay".

No your not the only one, but, personally, I find that attitude kinda lame. You just need to play enough to re-accommodate yourself with the new meta. And you have to understand that the current meta is all about outplaying your opponent. How can you just enjoy watching something played, without at least trying to play it yourself? Don't you want to be like the cool people in those videos? It's not going to be easy, but if you can improve, believe me it's worth it.

i used to play 4 games a day during 6 years now i rarely play 1 game per day and it feels boring and frustrating to play the game.

I remember the days where I could legit play 8 games in a row without taking a single break. Now I feel exhausted after one.

I honestly think it's got to do with the pace and tempo of the game. The game used to be a lot more relaxed and better to play. Now the game is less relaxed and (seemingly) better to watch.

I mean hell, I (maybe) made the mistake in purchasing an MSI Pass so I now have all these missions to do. Only saving grace is that many of them aren't bound to PvP. I have more fun on Co-Op than PvP and that says a lot.

It was their plan all along........

Ahri Baka5/19/2019, 7:29:08 PM1 votes

I enjoy the game so much to be honest

KyraSun5/19/2019, 8:13:16 PM1 votes

Same, if i watch someone play i don't have to go through the stress of it but still see the game i loved.

Glaricion5/19/2019, 8:46:50 PM1 votes

Just start screwing around in chat a lot and see if you can't spice your matches up w/ some ongoing jokes.

I've had people tell me that they keep getting camped because they have much desired assets or tease me about not being able to make it to baron pit to 1v4 their team as my team is getting stomped.

Game might be in a bad state right now, but it isn't lulzy ~3/10 bad like in S8.

The23rdGamer5/19/2019, 9:45:52 PM1 votes

You're not the only one, but for me I really don't enjoy watching the game be played all that often (with the except of pros / people doing specific things that I wouldn't be able to mimic in one of my games).

Watching League of Legends makes me want to play League of Legends, personally. ^^;

floo5/19/2019, 10:47:01 PM1 votes

Yea. Watching league is even more boring than playing it. If a video of league is good, it's because of the creator, not the game, at least for me. Streams or Esport are absolute sleep pills though.

i only enjoy watching "teamranked" like the pro scene. soloq is literally: hey im a 10/0 squishy champ. oh the enemys got a 0/3 zed/rengar/insert champ here, time to get 1shot

ModAcademy Kayn5/20/2019, 2:26:33 AM1 votes

I mean, if we're going the philosophical route, the chance that you are 100% unique isn't that likely.

Kerty1235/20/2019, 4:48:26 AM1 votes

Yes, current meta your dead so much more often for making small mistakes more so than previous metas. Damage is at a state where getting punished for a play normally means death. Getting oneshot means less time to play the game and the time when you are playing, your paranoid about getting oneshot.
