What are you supposed to do when teammates refuse to follow good advice?

Because that seems to be the core of I'd say 75% of toxicity lol So what are you supposed to do when players refuse to listen and ultimately cost you the game?

It's honestly the best advice you can get. If you focus on your own play and not making mistakes, players who see that will follow your pings and what not. If you're sitting there just talking and telling people how to play, no one is gonna listen to you. It's not like you're a known LCS player and they'll know you know what you're talking about. You have to prove it on the Rift.

It's great until you realize that this game isn't a Lifetime movie. 8/10 games I'm dominating while the rest of my team are eating eachother's asses. I don't believe there is any significant number of players in this game that think "Oh man this guy is doing well I should do what he does."

Like, it actually makes me laugh to read that. If this game were that convenient, every rank below Platinum wouldn't be problems.

Honestly, you lose.

People like to shift blame all the time, but the real reason tanks feel bad in solo queue is because of player ignorance. Utility-based kits, regardless of how strong, suffer deflated win rates in solo queue because people don't know how to play around these kits or actively do dumb shit that makes them meaningless.

Like building Zhonya's into a fed Annie...that kind of stupid.

I'm assuming you're talking about like strategic calls and not you micro-managing their skill order or build path... because trying to micromanage someone's skill order or build path is a bad idea from the get go.

If you're not convincing enough to politely get them to follow good advice, then you have three choices: Flame them and be punished, follow their call that you consider to be bad, or follow your 'good call' anyways.

The middle option is the one least likely to cost you the game, in most cases. A full team following a bad call is moderately more likely to succeed than a team trying to follow two or three different calls.

Which option does that fall under?

This post has no substance. Anyway when I feel like someone isn't following good advice, I stick with the person doing the best. If you're playing jungle(and this is not my own advice. I watch a lot of pro guides) and 2 out of 3 of your lanes are doing bad. focus that one lane that's good.

That's what I've always heard too but at the same time I also know that there are times when all a lane needs is some good support and they'll easily pull ahead so I'm usually against purely abandoning lanes just because they're behind.

But in cases where they're behind despite help and positive advice that they choose to ignore, fuck 'em.

  1. Who says your advice is good?
  2. Since when do you think people in league play as a team?
  3. If you want a real team, play with friends.
  4. If you give good advice, try making it advice for 1 person so you can tell it yourself and carry.

  1. Who says your advice is good?

Riot Games, Professional players, players with vastly more wins than losses. Objectively good advice exists in this game and has since I started playing in Season 3.

  1. Since when do you think people in league play as a team?

Doesn't matter what I think. It's what Riot says you should do, and what Riot says their punishment system is put in place for. Play to help the team get the win or be punished.

  1. If you want a real team, play with friends.

Except solo queue.

  1. If you give good advice, try making it advice for 1 person so you can tell it yourself and carry.

And then we return to the opening post about people not following good advice.

So, let's stick to the question instead of dodging it.

FNC 6ixGOD1 votes

Then I will answer the question. You do nothing and stop being ignorant.

When people arent following your advice then your team probably dont want to follow your advice. No reason to keep trying to force it, not saying that you do this. But most people do.

League of Legends is a team game played by solo players with minimal form of communication. People do not know who your are and will most certainly not blindly follow advice from a unknown person who is, no offense, in silver elo.

Only thing you can do in lower elo is set goals for yourself, how do you win games by yourself or as a duo, not as a team, until you reach a rank with people who actually know that there is a Baron on the map.

My friends play in bronze to master. From watching those games I can say that real teamplay probably starts at around diamond 2. So go there and then you can play as a team.

I do think that playing with friends is much easier than playing with randoms, and I think that's a societal flaw. People trust friends before they trust strangers even though you're all working towards the same goal. I say it's a societal problem because look at things such as race or gender relations. We all want to live in a better society yet nobody will cooperate.

For a bit of context, I'm generally a Jungle main even though I play all roles. When it comes to certain things, I as a Jungler have to cover for others when they don't do what they should. In that way, I understand what you're saying exactly in regards to just doing my own thing better when people aren't listening. That's really the reason why I ask this question because one player can't do everything. Things get frustrating, especially in low elo, when throughout a single game you're almost forced to repeat basic things like "ward" or "try not to fight since they're ahead". Don't get me wrong, because I'm too lazy to say it more than once or twice; it's just that there are way too many times when it should be said.

This game is rough when you're not a premade.

FNC 6ixGOD2 votes

I can relate to you since I play jungle as a main aswell and can play all other lanes with at least 5 champions that I know well. But for knowing the ways of solo carrying you should watch Trick2G, he just single handedly dismantles lost games and makes them wins. Even when his bot lane is 0/18 again. You just gotta learn how to open the gates dude. Thats all.

Thank you for reminding me that I've missed his videos for the past month. I haven't seen any of his videos since before Halloween.

I do think it's possible to come back from being sorely behind as a whole team, and have helped those comebacks by merely staying positive and keeping my teammates from tilting eachother. It's actually an amazing fucking feeling, tbh. That said, the reason those comebacks happen is because you have teammates who cooperate just as much as you choose to. There will always, especially in lower elos, be those players that do not care about anything but themselves and will hinder the team due to their own selfishness. Those are the types of players that I don't know how to deal with. Judging from all I've done, the best courses of action are to ignore the negativity, stay positive, and try to keep them positive as well. Even then, sometimes things will still fail because of their negativity. That type of player is my sole concern because I do not believe that "you'll just have to take the loss" is good enough from both a player and a Riot standpoint. There should be something that we as victims of this nonsense are capable of doing even if whatever we're doing must align with the rules.

What can we do when we're put with teammates who don't care about anything but whatever negativity they have even when it drags the team down?

Try to carry.

Listening to the advice of solo que teammates is usually a terrible idea anyway.

Icy Hot Shoto1 votes

Some advice is good, some is not. And some people just refuse to listen. If they're not listening, just don't say anything if it's not helpful or if it's rude.

Asking why they didn't follow, such as for a herald/baron/dragon/turret call, is fine, or asking why they think Ninja Tabi is better than Mercs against an all ap team is also fine. Demanding they should've followed, getting mad they didn't follow, or just being a general jerk is not.

Suggesting they get mercs over tabi is also fine, for example; "They're an all ap team, mercs would probably be better over tabi." That's fine. What's not fine is, "They're all ap, get mercs you idiot." That's actually rude, and is less likely to have someone listen.

Of course, sometimes you just get people who'll completely ignore what you said. All you can do is ignore them. And if they're inting/trolling then you report them.

The Highest Noon1 votes

So ignore them and take the loss?

Eh.

Icy Hot Shoto1 votes

Ignore then and do what you can to win, or be a toxic jerk and take the loss. Your choice, because if they're not going to listen, nothing you say to them will make them listen.

Maybe try to actually win then? You'd be surprised how many people have won games when they're with players who don't want to listen.

Meh, not too surprised. I'm more used to trying and still losing because of people who don't listen.
