"Surrender@15 is just a Band-aid for the current Shitty game state"

ModAcademy Kayn··77 votes·2,759 views

I mean, yeah? That what Band-aids are, temporary solutions until the injury heals itself. They're meant to help dull pain, and keep the wound from getting infected. Band-aids aren't permanent solutions, hence why they are band-aids. So, personally, I find it rude for NaKyle's little Surrender@15 post to be filled with people complaining about the Game's current state, acting like Surrender@15 is just an excuse for them to "Not balance the snowball meta", when it's obvious that Riot has already started trying to combat damage creep this patch alone.

Sure, the game ain't it's shining best at the moment, but if we balance the game according to Meta, then we should treat the game accordingly to Meta. If we're real snowbally, early surrender is a easier way out so you can try to get a new game going.

People complain that it takes too long to surrender "We are testing a unanimous surrender at 15 vote" "WTH RIOT implimenting this when the game is SO UNBALANCED. Get back to working on nothing but gameplay until you meet our impossible in 1 patch requirements"

Blah blah blah different people blah blah blah

The thing is, people making those complaints seem to want Riot to listen to the community more. That is their common factor, but because so many people have so many different opinions and wants, Riot literally cannot make everyone happy, and for the most part, when they try to listen to the community, it doesn't go well.

Wait, unanimous?

That changes a lot of things actually

Yeah ALL 5 people have to surrender for it to work.

you think you're going to have more fun in this game by having surrender at 15?

i like how you have hopes it's going to be a shitstorm of snowballing except that you will have even LESS comebacks because people will surrender without letting time for the enemy team to do possible mistakes

so you will have games where you surrender at 15, and games where enemies surrender at 15

but that's fine, i mean i already can't play my main atm because he's only relevant at 30 min, so let me just end games quickly without being useless

I don't think he ever said that.

From how much people complain, it already seems like people surrender enough, or just have that mindset.

I rarely see games end with whoever surrenders at 20. If anything, surrenders happen less in my games than others. Even with this snowbally meta we're still going to get games to last long enough.

Riot works on fixing their game, just read the patch notes. They have to take a lot of things and paths into consideration when balancing the game, so it can take longer. Don't complain about the fact that Riot is helping us suffer a bit less while they do their job.

So if some one throws acid on you, then starts throwing water at you its ok?

All riot had to do was revert the changes that made the game into a quicktime event and thats that

Trying to balance the totally unnecessary lethality mechanic is what we are going through

So, what you're saying, is leave lethality in an undertuned state, leaving several champs who honestly rely on it (i.e. Talon and Zed) in an unhealthy state in general? Doesn't seem like a good solution to me.

Also, to counter your little acid analogy, have you ever seen a shower head in a laboratory or science classroom? Yeah, those are for chemical emergencies that dump gallons of water onto you in a matter of seconds in order to wash off whatever is on you.

So, yes, using to water to wash off acid is ok to do.

Damn I feel you, I like to play late game champions and when I start being relevant we're either at their nexus or they are at ours :(

It doesn't matter how balanced this game is, stomps are going to happen. Hell, you could completely remove every single snowball mechanic in the game, and still get games where the outcome is obvious less than 10 minutes in.

AmazoX2 votes

What pisses people off is the fact that overpowered changes like Lethality go through PBE.

ModAcademy Kayn2 votes

So? It happened, whatever, but let's move on from that.

Agreed.

They also aren't considering games where players disconnect after the remake deadline or behave poorly for whatever reason.

Tryzzor1 votes

Some people just have bad games, it happens to everyone. Just because someone is playing poorly doesn't mean that's game. try to help the summoners who are struggling in game and look they will get better.

Illâoi Evê Siôn1 votes

I meant "behave poorly" not "play poorly" (and I know you can help people with the former one, too).

But if your Anivia leaves the game because she didn't get the second blue it might be a good reason to surr@15.

In other words, you don't just leave someone untreated because we haven't found the cure for their disease yet.

Sraeg20131 votes

It's a temporary solution to wounds that were accumulated over at least 2 years and wounds which can't heal by themselves.

Not to mention that people refuse to surrender even when enemies are knocking at their Nexus after an ace. The fact they will not do it 5 minutes sooner changes nothing.

Excuse me, but I'm not holding my breath.

Snowplosion1 votes

I thought it was coming with additional changes to lethality and damage. Everybody is acting as this is Riot's solution, but they are adding it with other fixes.

Mythic pepe1 votes

The thing is when games are decided 90% withing 5 minutes(for me atleast)

Oh would you look at that enemy MF landed an empowered Q and basically one shotted the support, this will totally not snowball the game ;D

People at bitching at riot, and for a good reason because they stubbornly dont revert lethality and let this cancer of a mechanic turn the entire game into a fucking speed test.

There is almost no skill anymore just those who faceroll their rotations first

This after the (in my opinion failed) assasin rework

Being on the OCE it's pretty funny actually. You use it unsuccessfully more then you do successfully.

Tbh I think for the most part it's not meant to appeal to the current meta at all.

I think it's meant to appeal Diamond+ and Korean games. Diamond and above players are able to tell when a game is salvageable. The 15min surrender better allows them to make a better use of their time. Korean players are renowned for using internet/gamer cafes to play League of Legends. By including a unanimous 15minute surrender option, it helps them not have to wait as long in a doomed game. As a result they get more out of their time and money.
