I have been playing illaoi for 3 days and I still kinda suck. Most matchups aren’t that hard (I have to work on casting my e right).Akali dodged almost every e of mine and always deleted my tentacles. It seemed impossible for me to cast an e without it being dodged.I tried to bait her so she could use her e but it didn’t work (I still suck xd).Is akali countering me due to high mobility and ability to disengage my ult and e and everything or should I practice more (which will happen)/ban her?We won the game but I was almost 100% useless and ended up 0/8 I think. The game ended about an hour ago and I am still too tilted to play xd

Akali is a hard match-up, but I don't think she's ban-worthy as a lane counter. (You can just ban her if you're scared she will snowball mid, but that's another story.)

I suggest to just farm and ignore her as much as possible. Use your E as a **counter-**engage when she jumps on you, or when you are already under your tower and she can't all-in you even if you miss it. Stay safe, and get some items. Then, group with your team and just serve as a meat-shield/counter-engage. Be patient, and wait for the opponents to do a mistake.

This is not something specific to Illaoi, it's true with all Juggernauts. They often can't force fights on their own, they are too vulnerable to kiting. So they have to wait for the enemy team to start a fight and punish them for it. If you find that tilting and you don't have the patience for it, it's probably best to just avoid the class entirely.

I cant say I have ever played as Illaoi vs Akali, even before Akali's rework, but I will do my best to provide some insight based on a similar matchup--Yasuo:

  1. Cooldowns are crucial to work around in both matchups, in particular Twilight Shroud for Akali. In fact since most of Illaoi's damage and thus sustain, especially post-6, is tied to her point and click Harsh Lessons, Akali basically becomes a tank while this is up. So, unless you manage to land a blind E while near the shroud (and only if the shroud doesnt work on the spirit also), dont ult Akali while shroud is up.

  2. Similarly, work around her mechanics in terms of mobility, in particular Assassin's Mark and Shuriken Flip. Her passive makes it so that she gets a MS buff for getting away from you, then an MS butf and some extra damage for going in again; this means that if Akali wants to make the most of her passive, she will go right back in; when she comes back in is a great opportunity to use your E. The second cast of Shuriken Flip, on the other hand, is a dash that allows her to come directly to you. This is actually what you want as when she does so, you can land an E safely.

  3. For her ult, Perfect Execution, the best advice I have is to know when you are too low on Health to survive the second cast; although the first cast stunning you for 0.5 seconds may be an annoyance, there are worse stuns on basic abilities.

  4. Final bit of advice is to adjust your own playstyle; while Illaoi can be a lane bully, she needs time to set up to do so, and playing more reactively may be better for now.
