Exhaust is dead

koshkyra··62 votes·17,409 views

Nobody uses it. Ignite is 110% better for “going aggressive” and anyone who doesnt go aggressive (janna, soraka) is better off taking barrier because they die the moment they get in range to exhaust someone.

Also with the amount of true damage and ignites in the game there’s no point in taking it since it has no effect on true damage since true damage is counted as “fixed damage” rather than “ignoring resistance damage” for some reason.

The only time i see exhaust is for some cheese bullshit on midlane bruisers like yasuo and irelia since they dont even need ignites damage to kill someone (which is not the intended use for exhaust.) And yuumi because yuumi is an extemely special case.

Same. Why have counterplay when you can have lc$ b1g plys?

iDarkWind2 votes

Yeah, like nowdays assassin don't have bigger burst windows and items such as item 2420 and the new item 3026 that gives AD instead of MR aren't much better than older days right? Not also like item 3046 gives a huge fat shield right? Desilusionals. 'Good old days' - In the 'good old days' assassins were better and actually played in LCS, I don't know what you both are talking about.

3TWarrior3 votes

assassins could be played then because the teams were very coordinated and the marksman was the most important role to take out due to towers...they then proceeded to make it where assassins dominate solo queue and are not very valuable in professional play because they can get shut down and every target is a threat to a tower (even tanks...how much damage does Demolish do again? )

Thank you, the Gameplay Boards does something that majority of memes cant: make me genuinelly laugh

The best is that the last changes that made Exhaust just bad were these ones on Season 7

Removed: Reducing target's attack speed by 30%. Removed: Reducing target's resistances by 10

I see:

Exhaust was too strong against Zed and the evil Rioters that LOVE assasins realized that what they needed to do was to nerf Exhaust so it wasn't too impactful against Zed by making not reduce atack speed since we all know that Zed stacks atack speed and his damage is based on multiple atacks and totally not burst via his Qs and a single aa to proc Duskblade and his passive.

That's super rich coming from someone who made this (https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/oHrMAAma-is-there-a-thematic-reason-why-yasuo-gets-placed-outside-turret-range-during-his-r?comment=00030000) comment ;)

uh no, it was nerfed because exh was used as both an offensive and defensive summoner. If you ran ignite and the other person ran exh, assuming you were playing the same champs, exh would always win. Like just think about this, 40 percent damage reduction, 30 percent attack speed reduction, 10 flat armor and mr shred, and a 30 percent mvspd reduction in one spell? that's busted in comparison to an ability that will occasionally help you secure a kill with a little bit of damage. Before these changes, EXHAUST, was almost the only thing being ran bot unless you were running a kill lane.

It was too strong against zed because he was picked A Lot in that period, the reality is that it was too strong against anyone, it was a death sentence, supports were just flash exhausting you as an engage, you could not fight back, you could not run, you would take more dmg, it was insane how strong it was.

iDarkWind3 votes

It wasn't LOL Exhaust reduces your damage by 40% during 2.5 seconds. It counters Zed because Zed can't just use his ultimate on you and stack the damage after. If he does that, you just exhaust him and during 2.5 seconds out of the 3 seconds window he has he has his damage reduced by 40%.

If it was because of Zed, they wouldn't remove the reducing target's attack speed and resistances.

Works good for when your opponents have a Yi. Other than that 100% yes. It needs more range. ADCs insist on taking summoner 7 and then they tilt when the support also wants to take summoner 7 knowing they won't be in range to use summoner 14 summoner 3 when it matters. If your support is a frontliner like Braum? Sure, taking Heal and letting him take the offense spell makes sense. If your support is an enchanter? Use your brain and let them take the defensive summ!

FireDrizzle7 votes

If he suppport builds heal power items and takes revitalise their heal is actually stronger. It's also easier for yumi than an adc too use heal because she has downtime when her abilities and passive are on cooldown where she isnt focused on anything.

CleverCactus1 votes

That's what they said, they are saying it makes more sense for enchanter supports to take heal.

Sir Saltarin2 votes

That was only a worth thing to do on Ardent Meta, and the ADC would pick up Barrier

We are worlds away from that meta, pretending that it's good right now is just wrong

Sir Saltarin1 votes

Yeah about everything you said...no

(It only make sense with Yuumi, other enchanters without flash are beyond garbage)

ChaosReyn3 votes

He meant either/or, not both, I think.

Either way, ADCs take heal because they often lack a way to save themselves.

Saianna9 votes

Tbh Yi is immune to exhausts AS slow, MS slow and even damage reducing debuff isn't as effective on him.

Heckin Support2 votes

Doesn't exhaust no longer slow attack speed?

OtterlyLost2 votes

Well, yes, why take two heals? The summoners don't stack; healing one after another gives diminishing returns. Furthermore, I feel less comfortable letting my support take heal because now I'm reliant on them actually using that summoner. I already have low defenses and its worse if I die in lane; my support should be playing a champion that's useful no matter what. I'm playing a champion that's only useful with gold.

if you're not gonna be in range to cast ignite or exhaust why would you need a defensive summoner tho? Its more about players worrying about their own survivability rather than working towards what is most efficient

Was it not obvious that I was talking about Heal? You take it because you can use it from the back line, unlike Exhaust and Ignite.

"Why the fuck would I trust my adc with the one thing that might save my life?"

The answer to both questions is because you signed up for the duo lane. You can't handle trust? You want to solo carry? Then pick a solo lane. The support doesn't exist to serve you. You both exist to serve the team.

as soon as riot allows jinx and leona to leave that god forsaken lane i'll gladly leave it to rot.

The Ecdysiast2 votes

Not really. He's immune to the slow and does a fuckton of true damage anyway. It's as ineffective as building tank items against him.

LordRedStone Nr16 votes

Yes, it needs a stronger damage reduction, or a longer duration. I would even trade for a weaker or decaying slow. Also, true damage being not affected sucks. "True damage always deals the intended value" should be reevaluated with this much true damage in the game.

I like taking Exhaust lol works fine for me

ChaosReyn4 votes

Yeah...when people tell you the entire reason they lost lane is because you took a different summoner spell than what they wanna see, they're not helping.

I'm not gonna complain if they buff exh, don't get me wrong. But if you're gonna sit here and say the entire reason for losing the game is because your support took exhaust instead of ignite, then you're clearly missing the part where it's not supposed to be the support's job to 1-shot everyone for your team.

AIQ3 votes

You could say it's because they exhausted all other options. :D

The Yetii Rider3 votes

I'm not sure why you would ever take Exhaust on a support anyway. Heal is better on supports than it is on marksmen, because supports build Heal and Shield Power.

People worry about the Heal debuff, in other words, you can't get the full benefit if your moron ADC burns Heal, but that's fine. If you're blowing both members' summoners, you're probably dying anyway. Better for you to be encouraged to save it and use it when your ADC doesn't have Heal.

Power Mac3 votes

I agree, it's definitely overestimated. People still ask me to pick it when I play as support, but I always choose either ignite or barrier: the latter too is actually quite useful for less tanky supports like Blitz (it saved my robotic cheeks quite a few times).

Heko The Man3 votes

ignite is just KS, exhaust is superior

Zed genius3 votes

If you remember, around 1 year ago the exact opposite was the case. People were running exhaust in the fucking top lane, mid lane and support. Then they buffed ignite and nerfed exhaust. Point is, those 2 summoners are never balanced. Either way one is always going to outclass the other. It is just a matter of time for ignite to get nerfed and or exhaust to be buffed.

Sir Saltarin3 votes

No, your memory is a bit off if you think that last season Exhaust was good.

It has been garbage since the nerfs on S7, not S8

And ppl on Toplane were not getting Exhaust on any elo that mattered since TP is superior.

Jack Eron3 votes

False, i see it a lot, also i'm using it a lot times. I use ignite only against healers or champions who are great at healing themselves but exhaust is pretty useful when you have to handle a stronger enemy - you can reduce the dmg - also you can slow champions with greater mobility.

Hemulen Magi2 votes

I use it but usually only when I am also taking ignite. Shaco Shen summoner 3 summoner 14 support

NY642 votes

Yeah it feels like what is the point of taking exhaust when they lowered the cooldown of ignite so much. What is the point of taking exhaust to slow the enemy when everyone has 6 dashes to ignore your slow and still blows up you and your teammates even with a 40% damage reduction.

FSRER2 votes

If they just make exhaust last for 0.5 seconds longer and revert it so it reduces attack speed and resistances, it will actually be useful again.

Nevrankroaton2 votes

It is still strong, it is just that when you pick tank support/catcher like alistar/thresh/naut/leona/rakan, ignite is way better to use your early pressure. but exhaust is still strong, it is still very strong against diver/assassin/hyper carries. People just feel better taking barrier mid against AD assassin than exhaust because psychologically, you think "shield" is stronger than just destroying any all-in.

True damage isn't the issue. Btw, every janna player use ignite. Like, Janna player who maxxed W weren't playing an enchanter, they were unleashing years of cockblocking let me tell you.

As someone who plays Talon regularly I can tell u that any type of slow is his worst nightmare. So good job on that. [slayer-jinx-wink] I still use summoner 3, the hell you mean dead? I would say summoner 1 is the one dead since I very rarely see it being used and I myself never used it.
