@Riot It's about time you draw the line

LegacyDAP··1 votes·745 views

A very large percent of the community (including myself) has no idea what they're allowed to say anymore. I'm actually afraid to call somebody "bad" In a game, because I know people (including myself) who have been banned in the past for stupid things like that before, and I don't even know where you guys draw the line on "verbal abuse." Most of my bans were deserved I'd say, but some of my most reported games is me calling my team "garbage" and "trash."

Is it actually that bad to get upset at a team in a video game that you will almost 99% never be paired with again?

You won't get even a warning for saying this once or even every once in a while. You have to do it over and over again to even get a warning. Even then, it is pointless to, doesn't help you or your allies, just move on.

Here's a good reference point. Would you tell a random person on the street what you're about to say? How likely is this person to be upset with you?

TADAA. Now you know what you can say.

Would that person in question deliberately obstruct random person in street and not expect some sort of punishment?!

No punishment from non-participant plays; provoke someone else's abusive behaviour.

This may be the flaw in the behavioral and matchmaking system that does not identify provocative actions, deliberate or not. (This as well as the game itself pretty much provoking aggression)

Weird thing is the OP didn't bring anything like that up. He referenced a bad team. Not a troll. Not an intentional feeder. Not an asshat. Bad. Here it is again:

I'm actually afraid to call somebody "bad" In a game,

That is an entirely different situation. Don't think you caught someone in some flawed logic when it wasn't even the problem in context. Now, if you want to talk about people being dicks in real life, I can assure you they exist, and I just ignore them.

WHICH IS A NEAT FEATURE IN GAME. There's an ignore button, and if they are harassing you in real life you can report them to the police if it's severe enough. OH MY GOD THERE'S A FEATURE IN THIS GAME TO LIKE THAT, IT'S THE REPORT FUNCTION.

That is an entirely different situation.

Criticism or provocation. Take that however you wish but someone else may report it and the system may punish it, and that system may not identify that acute difference.

So, then, being punished for experiencing disappointment from a game and its team composition is in dispute, which makes sense in this thread: there are things it may not identify and others are affected and punished from it.

No, a person is being punished because they took their disappointment and made it known to everyone else. Repeatedly. Over several games. It's happened time and time again on these boards. People are not banned for one incident unless the incident is horrible, way out of line, and completely assholish.

I think calling your team garbage is reportable, yes.

Simple rule: If what you say upsets people, it's reportable.

If you are losing your lane, you feel bad because you're doing poorly (usually this is because they were unlucky in an early all-in (for example 1 hit from actually winning the fight) or getting ganked early. The last thing you want at this moment is having your team constantly pointing out how hard you suck.

It has nothing to do with people not knowing what to say, that is a ridiculous cop out response.

It has everything to do with people not caring what they say and wanting to get away with saying whatever they want regardless how rude, idiotic, racist, you name it.

Most of the garbage people say on here (boards and in game) they would NEVER say it in real life, let alone verbally, even if they want to act tough and say "I would totally say the same". Not the case for everyone, but most of them would get slapped upside the head by their parents, let alone saying the same to a stranger the same way they do here.

Blaming your team WILL offend them It's not something anyone needs to hear, either; not everyone is actively pursuing the tireless quest to improve If you have an issue with people in the game, tell your friends about it, tell your roommates, tell your bed, YOUR TRASH CAN but make sure not to start insulting people in-game. That's pretty much what makes them report you

Honestly? as long as you don' t downright ask for suicides, be homofobic or racist or treath someone directly you are fine.

Someone might be iper-sensitive, but as long as is not the above cases it does not weight for your bans. Even a leash once in a while won' t punish you, as long it is not too much offensive ( like in above cases).

I can tell my adc to fuck off once in a while, the system will register it as a negative approach but one word only does not trigger anything: if i keep fucking off my team mates for games and games then the system takes action. Samewise, if i say something jokingly to my adc and he gets offended and report, but i do not offend often, the system might (might) register that as a negative approach, but if i never rage or talk shit then no action should be done.

you guys are overthinking this: get chill, be polite, apologize if you see things do no turn out as you tought and yer be fine.

apologize if you see things do no turn out as you thought

this is probably the best advice to not get reported as often.

I only just figured out that you can write 'shit' on the forums without it getting auto-filtered. I've been writing sh*t since Season 2 because it used to be blocked.

We need the tribunal back, i'd rather have bad judges than a punishement system that works on quantity of reports to punish

Well just got by this rule and you will be fine. If you wouldn't say it to some random guy who is twice as big as you are in real life, dont say it.
