Most abusers actually benefited from Rylais "nerf"

Brand Zyra etc now can rush this item easily and get the slow super early, combine that with their excessive base damage is making them very annoying.

Singed This guy too Huehahahahahahaha

Catastrop2 votes

He doesn't abuse it though.

Danjeng2 votes

Isn't Brand also an intended user then? It's been his core before the MYMU.

Catastrop1 votes

He is(so is Zyra too), but I don't feel like arguing this because I'm not prepared to handle the stupid that's probably going to greet me in replies if I do.

TequilaZombie4 votes

He's not an abuser, he's an intended user just like Morde.

AirKingNeo3 votes

By that logic everyone is intended to use it.

TequilaZombie2 votes

Nope. Tanky AP champions who valued the health and the CC over raw damage where intended to use that item. Morde, Singed, Vlad, Rumble, Cho'Gath, etc. On squishy mages, the item should have been a subpar defensive option against divers, as it would lower their damage by quite a bit. Then the MYMU came around and lowered the AP on most big ticket AP items and buffed the AP on Rylais, making it one of the best options for AP damage.

No champion is intended to use a specific item Akali is not intended to use Gunblade, but she works very well with it

Votable Jester1 votes

I mean Morde's rework was intended to use Rylais...

He used it for 4 years prior to the Rework aswell

If Riot themselves lists gunblade as a recommended item, well, she really is intended to use it. And they even balance their champions like akali based off of those items.

TequilaZombie1 votes

Not as a balance point for specific champions (except Morde), but when a champion is designed the class they should be (in that case AP Bruiser) and the avaible items for that class (item 3116 item 3027 item 3152) are taken into consideration and their kits are balanced around having those items in it's build. To give a more extreme example, a champion like Cho'Gath will never be buffed because it's subpar to build item 3100 on him, but if he's doing poorly when building Tanky AP items, which he's designed around, he will probably be up to a buff in the next few patches.

Just like assassins are intended users of Lethality items, AP Bruisers like Singed, Morde, Cho, Swain, etc are intended users of AP+Health items.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the only "classification" of something where most is 2 is the number of (insert non-white race here) women trump voters. [slayer-pantheon-thumbs]

remove azir because he's trash

hwa trash, because of nerfs to his kit, because he was stupid when he was strong. doesnt mean hes any less of a rylais abuser, just that hes not relevant right now.

dont say certain champions abuse an item then mention champions which have had that item as their first buy since release

it's literally designed for champions like them

Astôlfo2 votes

Shhh, mages can never be problematic. Just let the mage main bias' stupidity flow through you.

While that means toning its health and AP down to make it less generically appealing to mages, we also want the slow to be less attractive to mages who can’t reapply it consistently.

Combined with the changes to Rylai’s, we are less concerned with RyLiandry’s being abused by non-core users, and thus can afford to let those core users hit their spike earlier.

That was their intention. They still wanted it to be useful for the champions meant to purchase it and to make it less appealing to others.

Zero Skill Tank1 votes

Not really. If all that changed was stats, it could have still be annoying, but the slow is pathetic now.

MatthewRT21 votes

the slow still works on brand passive, the perma slow is still there on him and morde

and most people who abuse the item outside Cass pretty much only worked with the 20% slow portion the item had before it was nerfed so... in reality the people who abused the item didn't really lose much, just some stats but they can get the item faster now! so yeah...

FantasySniper1 votes

Both Brand and Zyra are within acceptable levels right now.

You just have to pick a sustainable support like Soraka and Janna.

Viktor is more of a problem.

They don't abuse it it's their core.

Zyra needs to be nerfed

Vekkna1 votes

Rylai's has been an iffy pick on Zyra since they nerfed the minion slow to 20% several patches ago. Liandry's is an infinitely better item on her, and you still proc the double burn with E snare, E plant slow, and ult knockup. In other words, Rylai's is a wasted item on Zyra for all-ins.

Its only real use on her is for the double burn on Q plants only, which means you're trying to zone or poke. In that case, Luden's is probably the better item, and it has the added benefit of being great for all-ins and better for wave clear.

A lot of Zyras still build it, but there's split opinion amongst high-ranked Zyras over whether it's actually worth it. One said says it's a wasted item because you should be using your E plants/E/ult/FQC plants anyway. The other side builds it because it works best on high hp enemies when you'll be mostly poking with Q plants anyway.

My point is that it's not overpowered on her, and there's not even consensus on whether it's worth building at all. Most people still built it before this patch for the combo of AP and HP or because they didn't realize the slow was gutted for plants. In any event, there are reasons why she builds it, and none of them are because it's OP.
