1st impressions on Tahm Kench

TK is probably the best balanced champion design Riot has released since Vel'Koz. It looks like he will only need slight buffing or nerfing on his abilities and his kit and personality is well thought out.

Great passive. It allows you to power up two of his abilities but gives the opponent counterplay to try and get away first.

His Q is a nice poke with a slow and possible stun. Does an appropriate amount of damage.

His W has amazing utility offensively or defensively. It does great damage to enemies (which is fair since he has to stack his passive first) and takes them out of the fight for a few seconds. You can grab minions for more ranged harass. Defensively, you can save an ally who is about to die.

His E gives him the ability to win in trades through healing after the trade or mitigate burst.

The only bad part of his kit (IMHO) is his ult. The range is HORRIBLY low. You can about go from a tier 1 tower to a tier 2 tower. It also seems like it's slower than the Rek'Sai ult. It is almost worthless until you get rank 2 or higher. If definitely needs buffed.

He is definitely fun and will see play at all levels.

his base dmg and shield is way too high

For a melee champ, not really.

he is immobile and melee, if he gets to you then he deserves to do a lot of damage

My first impressions of Tahm Kench: people will play him in every role except support.

???

He will dominate at support.

That's not my point?

I've seen him played every role except support, even though he is made to be a support. I finally got one recently after he didn't get jungler first.

He seems like a balanced champ in terms of the champs that were released before him (aka. Ekko, Yasuo, Kalista). Otherwise, I'd say that he doesn't need as many passive effects as he currently has. Compared to champs such as Taric, he seems overloaded, but otherwise, somewhat balanced.
