why are you deleting celestial body tho?

Critmaster Garen··47 votes·2,607 views

adding a new rune to inspiration 3 is one thing, but if celestial body wasnt strong enough to compete, you could have buffed it slightly instead of removing it entirely. if you can add a 4th rune to resolve 2, you can just add a 4th rune in that slot to inspiration aswell.

reduce the damage penalty by 2% or make it fall off a couple of minutes earlier. its a niche rune, but you already cut resolves health bonus in half without anything we can do about it. why remove another source of health?

its a decent rune to take against extreme lane bullies to not get zoned from cs from lvl 1 on.

It is not removed because it is "bad", they said that they consider it balanced. Its pickrate is low, and I think that is the only reason they remove it.

its a shitty reason though. just because a rune is niche and isnt picked often doesnt mean they have to throw it away.

all inspiration runes are supposed to be very niche.

Wtf is nieche it is triggering me

Edit: the fact that people think I don't know what niche is makes me sad

Look at the adjective definition

Teridax685 votes

"Niche" is the opposite of broad or general appeal: when a feature interests only a few people, out of a much larger group, that feature has niche appeal. In this respect, Inspiration is supposed to offer niche options because those options were only intended to interest a relatively small amount of players, even if they could still be really awesome if used right. Therefore, taking out one of those options just because too few people chose it is contradictory to the original stated purpose of the rune path.

yes, i made a typo. fixed it.

Velzard of Koz1 votes

I didn't think it was about the typo, I thought the person was honestly asking what it is, lol. I just like bringing up Nietzsche when I can in context of niche I find it weirdly funny, heh.

ShaolinToilet1 votes

It was obviously about the typo. Why would I be triggered about a word I don't know

Velzard of Koz1 votes

Oh, my bad then. Sometimes I get triggered when people use word I don't understand too often and I lose a lot of context If I can't find the definition, thought that's the case.

Its not just because its niche. Its also because inspiration is about pushing the game rules (adding cdr above the cap, new items like biscuits/minion demarerializer, etc) and adding a little extra health isnt breaking the rules. Rito dislikes just giving stats as an advantage so they replaced it with something more unique that just some health with a small disadvantage tacked on.

If the reason for removal is low pickrate then Iron Skin and Mirror Shell would be deleted 5 years ago.

They should stop removing thingfs all together. We need more items and runes and buffs, we need choices and diversity.

TurtleMari1 votes

you have choices, just alot of them feel the same.

Chromatic Eagle2 votes

Yeah, the boards here love frozen mallet.

CasterGilgamesh2 votes

choices that are fair is what he means Frozen mallet is unfair as it offers too much kiting ability to an already kite oriented champion Gnar

But there are people who enjoy the item, and feels that it offers choice.

They removed it because it doesn't really belong in the Inspiration tree. It offers raw defensive stats. If you wanted to deal with lane bullies, Resolve should be your solution.

then swap it over to resolve. whatever. there are still 2 spaces over there where it could fit.

put it next to overgrowth. its either a % health increase that stacks up over the course of the game, or 100 flat health with the damage penalty for 10 minutes.

Glory to God1 votes

Yeah I think they said they'll reintroduce it later as a Resolve rune, not sure on i though.

Terchio4 votes

Resolve is the defense tree. Sorcery, Domination, and Precision all are heavily offense-based. Inspiration is literally the only other tree with no clear dominating path. In essence, if you want defense in your build, you shouldn't have Resolve shoved down your throat. Literally no other Rune in any other Tree gives any armor, resistance or HP. That's a heavy amount of stats pigeonholed into one single rune branch, and at least Celestial Body broke that trend.

So I guess overall, why doesn't it belong in Inspiration? Isn't basically the whole tree basically designed as a wild card? It even goes as deep as the combined tree bonuses...

I'd rather get something with an overall better effect. Idc if they can buff it to make it strong. I don't like it and I don't think anyone else did.

We'd all rather have something new.

Don't speak for everyone. I loved going Inspiration+Resolve with Celestial Body for 1k hp at level 1.

Jaspers3 votes

I'm sad it's going, the one they've replaced it for is worse. I'm no interest in that over the other 2. Kind of wish instead of removing and changing them around they'd make each tree have 4 versions instead, make it really diverse.

they got rid of it because its too much of stat based rune for the inspiration tree.

which could be fixed by putting it into resolve next to overgrowth. which makes it a choice between scaling health that increases over the course of the game, often way past 100 bonus health (my record was around 700 health from the rune at the start of the season), or 100 flat health at lvl 1 with the damage penalty.

they dont need to remove it, gp is just going to abuse the new rune anyway since klepto is still busted on him

they talked about how it wasn't a good fit for inspiration. Meddler said something like it may appear in Resolve as part of the rune changes they're doing.

then why arent they doing it? how hard can it be to throw it over into resolve 3 for the time being?

if they can add a 4th rune into resolve 2 then they can copy paste celestial body over into a 4th slot aswell. it should literally not be any more difficult than that.

MalrothDragonia1 votes

well, there are two reasons that come to mind. The simplest one is that neither you nor I know the tech involved in runes, so it may not be as simple as just 'putting it into resolve 3'. The other one is that they are trying more gameplay-focused options to make resolve more interesting and trying to shift away from runes that just give hard stats.

if you have a basic understanding of programming, youll know that it is literally a matter of copy then pasting a section of code.

they dont have to design new tech to do it. theyre already able to get 4 runes into a single slot. and moving celestial body over from inspiration to resolve is literally just changing a single line of code.

as far as gameplay choices go, celestial body is already a rune that you wont just take any game for its stats. the damage penalty already incentivises you to only consider it when you know you need the extra health in the early game, or youre not a champion whos dependent on dealing damage to be effective (a lot of supports and tanks).

MalrothDragonia1 votes

I have a basic understanding, yes. Do you know the engine they use? I understand it's proprietary-ish. Also, the rune has to interact with a LOT of other systems. It has to lock into the way runes are selected, how it modifies the champion in game, it interacts with the timer, there's also UI space to consider. I highly doubt it is as simple as 'copy/paste a line of code'.

and they dont need to change anything about that. nothing about its interactions with elements of the game, or its own mechanics. nothing other than its "address" in the rune trees.

there are no special cases to consider like magical footwear which cant be equipped by cassiopeia and has to auto swap for something else for her. because technically no champion in the game has any restriction that would prevent him from utilizing the rune.

if there is some sort of sense to how the game is coded, then the rune itself and what it does is written in its own file somewhere, and all they have to change is instead of referencing the rune in the code for the inspiration tree in slot 3, they reference it in the code of the resolve tree in slot 4 (which theyd have to add, which theyve proven they can do).

UI space is obviously a non issue aswell. they already made 4 runes in the same slot work.

like how terrible would this game have to be coded that its too difficult to just move the rune? not redesign it. not change how it interacts with any part of the game, including champions and the timer. just to move it.

i agree with coment above, a rune that gave health was strange to have in the inspiration path. Btw you said they already cutted resolve bonus in half. But by going for the Celestial Body Rune you had to go Resolve/Inspiration that still has its 130 health or Inspiration/Resolve with 145 health. So you don't realy lost health that way. On the other side i think riot removes it just cause it could never be balanced. Like buffing it could easily make it to a msut pick rune. Also on what champions si that rune strong? I would stay tanks, but more even tanksupports. And they are the current strongest role and get health removed from targons and the aspectupgrade too.

Especially with Approach velocity being so much more niche already. There are only a handful of champions that have ranged crowd control who then want to move in afterward, and the allied aspect of it is impossible to see power wise.
