I think we can all pretty much agree that these last 3-4 patches have been the worst in all of season 5, if not the entire history of the game itself

I'm not talking about balance, although Sated Devourer is one of the most annoyingly stupid things I've ever had to play with or against, I'm talking about overall fun.

Do people really forget XinZhao Kassadin Leblanc Darius Zyra etc. so quickly?

League Champions now have a lot more distinct strengths and gimmicks in their kits (which might seem unfair to play with), but overall their capabilities are fairly balanced. Many of the highest win rate champions consist of older champion designs such as Annie or Malzahar who can CC and kill you at the same time. In comparison, a newer champion such as Ekko might be extremely frustrating to deal with, but in pure %AP ratio and CC ability, he is significantly weaker than Annie or Malzahar unless he manages to land Chrono Break.

Nonetheless, I much rather fight an Ekko or Azir any day, than be killed by Talon, LB, or Kassadin before their silence duration wears off. League now has a heavy focus on outplay, for better or worse, but at least fights are no longer determined by who casts the first spell.

Easier to ban 1 champ instead of 6 idiots

Old Kassadin and old LeBlanc existed during the same period. As well, when Xin Zhao was released, Ezreal and AP Yi were also contested picks.

Just to put things into perspective, the community generally agrees that Fizz and Zed are annoying yeah? Imagine a time when they were actually mediocre or even sub-par champions, even before their nerfs (Zed had faster shadow swaps and no delay on his ultimate shadow, and Fizz almost has twice the AP scaling he does right now), compared to the FOTM champions back then.

no this is not true, Zed had 100% pick/ban @ S3 worlds (i don't find Fizz and Zed to be annoying at all honestly) and the only champ that were more broken than him were Kassadin and (arguably) Ahri

right now you got 6 locked bans, in S3 you had Kassadin, Zed and Ahri locked then maybe Gragas and that was pretty much it (no one played LB)

DarthSpectrum1 votes

That is a good point. The old good champions are still somewhat relevant (ie. LeeSin ), but there are also more and more newly released contested champions in League.

My initial argument was to state that champions now aren't necessary more broken than champions in previous seasons. The game is probably a lot more balanced now than before. The issue with insufficient bans to stop OP champions is not really relevant to how balanced they are. Either way, I have always supported the notion to increase more bans per side (~5?), since there are more champions.

You guys forgot to add Talon, Nocturne, and S3 Evelynn pre-ult mega nerf to the list.

They were just like old Kass and Leblanc

The issue is that S5 with 5 bans would be more balanced than S3, but till then it is not because the OPs are way too many compared to S3 when you needed to ban 3 OP as hell champs then it was ok.

I would even ban fucking Braum at the moment but i can't because it would be a waste, i can't let Rengar (BS champ), Elise, Morde, Darius, Skarner, GP, Fiora go through.

To clarify: bullshit champions in S3 were REALLY bullshit but they were 3 per patch at most, now bullshit champs are not as bullshit as S3 Zed/Ahri/Gragas but they are more.

Idk, LB, Talon and Kass no longer have silence.

There is a difference between outplaying and winning the game with the most loaded kits, the game is currently heading for the latter.

Outplay happens when you out plan and out perform the enemy player, generally under a somewhat fair circumstance/environment in the form of limited kit functionalities. This game currently only encourages the performing side of things and gradually ignoring the planning aspect as time goes on.

It's only a matter of time before LoL turns into a mediocre Fighting game.

Yeah, they don't have their silence anymore; hence, they are a lot more balanced now than before. My point is that League is actually a lot more fair currently than it was previously, people just don't seem to recognize it.

With champions such as Azir or Ekko, you have a chance to flash their ultimates and damage. However, with old LB, Kass, and Talon, you are pretty much guaranteed to die if they initiate on you and you have no teammates to peel for you. Even tanks didn't stand a chance back then because powerful tank items such as Force of Nature were removed from the game, but high-end damage items such as DFG still existed.

I didn't know they still carried a silence in their kit.

I clearly mean comparing S3/S4 Kassadin, LB, and Talon to current Azir and Ekko.

You can get over Azir's Emperor Divide and dodge Ekko's parallel convergence and chronobreak, but you can't do anything when Kassadin/LB/ Talon silences you and 100-0s you before it wore off.

You clearly haven't played for all that long, have ya mate?

I would take the Feral Flare meta over this. Atleast it only lasted one patch

Zhugan4 votes

That meta, honestly, was a complete joke compared to some of the prior metas. Hell, this meta is a complete joke compared to some historical single champion releases.

And anyone who honestly thinks that juggernauts are more powerful right now than Meta-Golem was at its prime doesn't really understand what a powerful tanky-dps looks like.

Patch 4.13 was worse than anything that happened this season. Before that, the 2nd-worst would probably have to be 3.14.

Game hasn't been fun since 4.21 for me. RIP season 4 damage meta.

I just don't understand how it could have gone wrong! ADCs feel very irrelevant right now unless you're vayne, Sated Junglers get all this free power for just farming, Juggernauts are WAY too strong, Mordekaiser isn't even mordekaiser anymore...For all of Riot's talk of picks getting pushed out by strong champions, this has been the most narrow meta I've seen since I've started playing

Farming jungler is not a wrong thing to have, the only thing wrong here is the lack of balancing put into it.

Not at all. Even though some ADCs are clearly more broken than everyone else, doesn't mean others are simply trash tier.

I've hated League since 4.13 and the following patches just further secured that loathing.

season 5 is BY FAR the worst season ever in every way , balance , player behaviour , skill of players .. only the desing team is doing a good job

ReshiKillim2 votes

Not at all true. Seasons 2-3 were far worse off in balance than Season 5 has been at any point. A lot of players of S4-S5 never knew the sheer horrors that were Nocturne, Kassadin, and Evelynn until Riot hit them with a hundred nerf hammers.

Any of those three could solo carry a team with ease, being unstoppable wrecking machines that were pick/ban or lose.

Darius was also a pentadunk nightmare until he got nerfed. Current Darius is only half as scary as Darius was before all of his nerfs. Full damage Darius only needed 1 stack of bleed to penta dunk your team.

Oerba No Naja1 votes

i know about it , but this season is more like meh / derp wise league before was ... idk a bit more exiting and rewarding for your plays actually you cant win without a team

ReshiKillim1 votes

Back then it was whoever has the most of those three wins. Period. Kassadin wasn't able to be laned against by anything but Talon and Galio without losing by 15 min, Evelynn was the nightmare of everyone because she'd burst anyone who was alone down in 1-2 seconds, and Nocturne.. He just ulted and mashed 3 buttons quickly for easy penta.

s4 was better :^)
