The dream.

Sadly, he's just garbage wherever he goes right now.

yep. his base stats aren't all that high for a top laner

180k mastery points on the first champion i ever bought. jax. I don't play him anymore because of how bad the itemization is. and he scales with items he himself is too weak. his ultimate doesn't feel like its doing anything. his W doesn't have any ad scaling on it so I can't use trinity force as well as other champs. his early game is god awful.

Agreed.

Bad stats and mechanics that need to ramp up to reach full combat effectiveness, but let's not forget that the meta is against him as well as we're in a stack damage meta where everything both instanteneous and DOT simply does more damage regardles of what you play, this just spells bad news for a champ that needs to ramp up at AA range.

I really like Jax and I've had some success playing him despite how horribly he does statisticly, but I feel he needs to be reworked, sadly, his kit has too little flexibility.

Alas, if he miraculously get's ahead he will just stackcheck opponents into oblivion, which is actually fine by me, since you deserve to be strong if you manage to snowball as Jax. But on the flipside, if you go even, you just straight up lose, seems kind of contradictory on Jax as he's supposed to be a hyperscaling fighter. And if you fall behind your only option is to farm until you scale back into avarageness then pull some massive outplays out of ones rectum, thus he's perhaps the most snowball reliant champ in the entire game right now, you don't snowball and snowball hard, you will lose. Sucks to be a Jax player these days.

Uh, hell no. Jax does not need buffs at all. He's still cancer, and needs more nerfs.

Thats why people in Bronze shouldn't be allowed to post in the Gameplay (and Balance) section of the boards.

Wow, 45.5% winrate jungle, 46.5% winrate top in plat + while having a fairly straight forward and easy kit to use, must be so OP, so stronk. Winrate based on game lenght doesn't become positive untill full build and even then isn't much better than avarage, while having huge dips during pretty much the entire game, such "hyperscaling".

Come on man, let's be real, Jax needs help.

Low bronzers downvoting because they lack arguments to the same degree that they lack skill, why am I not surprised. :)

Jax is quite the curious case imo, having played him a good deal this season.

He seems to be one of the champs that lost the most due to the mastery update while others harvested greater benefits, this is due to his nature as a fighter and needing so many different stats to be effective, everything deals more damage instantenously this season, but Jax belongs to a class that is very oldschool and maybe in a sense outdated fighters, as he needs to ramp up to reach full combat effectiveness, thus a stack damage meta where instantenous damage is much higher will seriously hurt his viability.

As for the state of masteries and Jax, if he goes down the ferocity or cunning tree, he will be super squishy and most likely die before he gets anything done, if he goes down the resolve tree his DPS is inferior to your avarage tank untill he gets 2+ offensive items, in which case he will still be squishy as heck. Part of his problem lies in CC and mobility being so rampant and so easely applied on him due to the nature of his straight forward kit, also the constant introduction of more and more knockups and displacement making tenacity a weaker stat than ever, yet it remains a crucial stat on Jax.

The introduction of Echo items means alot of mages a will just straight up be outrunning him, while having range and crowd control advantage and not actually needing to ramp up their damage to become effective. The introduction of easely accessable CDR for ADC's mean the mobile ones can spamm their dashes far more often than he can and thus will be incredibly hard to outduel at all stages of the game. This is sad because a heavy fighter like Jax should never lose to an adc in a straight 1v1 unless the adc is clearly super fed, sadly, that isn't the case right now and many adc's can straight up outduel him at any stage of the game given he doesn't get fed.

I'm not sure if MS is bugged in this game as well but I have on several occations noticed myself getting outrunned by adc's and mages with clearly lower MS (during the early stages of the game before anyone has purchased MS items), meanwhile Jax doesn't really have room to build very much MS due to how reliant he is on so many other stats, thus he remains extraordinarily easy to lock down and kite.

All that being said, sadly, I honestly don't believe any numbers buffs can fix Jax without breaking him, I think his Q might need to be reworked to make his kit more flexible and give him more outplay potential rather than relying on straight up statchecking opponents at his comfort range, it simply won't work in a meta where ADC's are so strong and independent, where tanks reach their powerspikes so fast, and where mobility and cc is so rampant. Perhaps his ramping up mechanics needs to be reconsidered as well as they just don't work in the world where this game is going.

Maybe my analysis is wrong, but this is somewhat how I feel about Jax. I love this champ, he was the second champ I ever mained in this game (morde was first) and it's sad to see his viability be 100% reliant on your opponents having picked an immobile adc AND an immobile mage AND not running too many tanks before it's your turn to pick as you'll just get stomped into the ground unless you miraculously snowball and snowball VERY hard.

I do not feel that jax needs a buff without becoming disgusting at low elo

I honestly wonder whether he just needs a rework, even if just a slight one. He seems outclassed by other picks with the simplicity of his kit, when compared to other champions.
