Zilean Talk

Zilean can be fun and rewarding to play as, but a problem with him is Rewind feels like you are down a spell because of the nature of the spell and he has a very lack luster feeling passive while playing as Zilean. Feel free to list your own thoughts and opinions of, key word here, small changes you would like to see for Zilean; which will end up leaving him as the same champion that we all know, love, and hate. One thing I want to deal with, due to his extremely inconsistent Time Bomb landing, is grant Zilean some more damage; because right now even for a utility mage his damage to champions is a little too low in the grand scheme of the entire game.

Heightened Learning (Passive): Zilean gains 10% bonus experience and 5% bonus experience for nearby ally champions.

Additionally, whenever Zilean lands one of his bombs on an enemy champion he stores up 3 bonus Ability Power. Upon reaching level 18 Zilean will gain this bonus Ability Power that he stored up and can no longer store up anymore.

Rewind / Time Strike (W): Cooldown: 14/12/10/8/6 seconds; Cost: 35~/~40/45/50/55/60 Mana; Range: 700 units Rewind: Using this ability on Zilean will cause Zilean to reduce Time Bomb's and Time Warp's cooldowns by 10 seconds.

Time Strike: Zilean sends out powerful time magic from all his currently active bombs' location to deal 80/120/160/200/240(+60%AP) magic damage to all enemies struck, the same enemy cannot take damage from multiple Time Strikes at the same time.

So some clarifications here: The passive change is I made it more localized to Zilean and less aura power to give it a level 18 power. So now while level from 1 to 17 you store up AP whenever a bomb lands on an enemy champion (his bombs are Time Bomb, Time Warp, and Chronoshift, but you cannot cast his ultimate on an enemy champion obviously, so only Q and E can trigger this effect). Between levels 1 to 17 you do not get this ability power, and then when you reach level 18 you get the ability power permanently and of course the stacking effect no longer applies so it allows Zilean to have a level 18 passive without snowballing the game with a bunch of extra AP early to mid game.

Rewind is basically the same, but you need to use it differently as in cast the spell on yourself or simply self-cast the spell and then Rewind will be used; everything here is the same otherwise. I added a new spell as a pick and choose spell which allows more interesting choices for Zilean and decide if he wants to double down and use Q and E twice or have a more reliable damage through a line skill shot which can be significant AoE (damage does not overlap) with multiple line skill shots if you have multiple bombs in play (again bombs are Time Bomb, Time Warp, and Chronoshift). So the second portion is used similar to Lulu's Q just does not come from Zilean ever unless he bombs himself, so it is used exactly like a line skill shot. Also two different mana costs; cooldown is shared of course; Rewind is the same 35 Mana, while my new Time Strike is 40/45/50/55/60 Mana.

ANOTHER IDEA:

Rewind (Passive): Static Cooldown: 14/12/10/8/6 seconds; Passive Ranks: @levels 1/5/9/13/17 Zilean's next basic ability will lower his other basic abilities' cooldowns by 10 seconds, does not affect Chronoshift.

Changing Time (W): Cooldown: 12 seconds; Cost: 100 Mana; Range: 800 units Zilean launches time magic in the target direction based on his currently active bombs' locations to deal 80/120/160/200/240(+60%AP) magic damage to struck enemies and heal 60/90/120/150/180(+40%AP) health to struck allies, the damage and heal cannot overlap on the same unit.

Changing Time cannot be cast if there are currently no active bombs.

If they do buff rewind at all, I would love to see them add a bonus for double casting E. Since they reward you already for double casting Q as you always were. His E should be the same way.

Something like casting E on someone already affected by it will double the strength of the speed / slow (Would have to nerf the base numbers on it, cause at rank 5 a 198% speed boost would be broken)

Zilean also flat out needs a new passive. His current one just sucks. Back when it was global it was great because you could get your top laner to a level 6 power spike sooner. But now, its terrible since the amount isn't all that noticeable and it becomes useless late game.

One idea for a new passive I thought of would be

"Casting Q or E on an ally will reduce their basic ability cooldowns by 2 seconds. Can only happen once every 6 seconds, but casting rewind cancels this timer"

He would fit perfectly as a cooldown altering support, not just for himself. But others.

the slow is already 99% besides i think refreshing his E already has a pretty significant reward to it for the slow or speed buff

the global auras were down right overpowered broken; but the biggest thing i want is a new passive or at least a level 18 passive like i did here; either or would work

I thought about moving Rewind to the passive slot and each basic spell cast would reduces his basic spells by 5 seconds (so the other two spells will lower the spells by 10 seconds just like current rewind) OR just keep it at 10 seconds which procs when he casts a spell so only two spells can ever get a refresh and not all 3 basic spells with a cooldown that goes down by zilean's levels and then you can free up a slot for his W slot for a brand new spell, this would grant him not a useless passive (even though the exp is borderline broken it feels really bad playing as Zilean, so useless is not the correct term) and allow him to have an actual 3rd spell which most likely can grant some more utility and lower damage but reliable damage

Why would someone want to get XP with a passive like that?

I would stay as far away from lane as I could only appearing to drop a bomb on a champ and run off before I get too much XP.

As for his rewind.... it isn't the worst idea I've seen (Looking at you, Rewind put in place of passive ideas.) But this seems to be a more mid friendly buff that might end up pigeon-holing him into a mid-centric line of buffs and nerfs.

Zilean is primarily a time mage first, support second; he will always be a utility mage regardless- Rewind as his passive does the same for support and mid zilean, since the new W i made is a nuke and heal this helps support and mid playstyles, negated with a high mana cost because it is a heal--- something i forgot to mention is that Rewind only triggers and goes on cooldown if it actually lowered the cooldown of at least one basic spell, there will be no empty rewinds where your passive goes on cooldown without doing anything--- meaning at most 2/3 abilities get a 10 second cooldown refresh and at minimum 1/3 abilities get a 10 second cooldown refresh the spell you cast does not get the refresh, and your ultimate is completely separated from everything primarily for balance purposes

I don't really understand the meaning of wanting to rework a extremely good kit if you are missing his bomb's its more then likely your just not aiming them propely or you just can't predict a yasuo jumping to a minnion because if thats the case you just throw them on yourself o.O Zilean they a couple patch's ago expiremented zilean having a 0 mana cost rewind in pbe, but it made him to hard to counter. you shouldn't even be thinking of going double bomb on people between leels 1-3 unless you feel you can push them out of lane easily like a twisted fate. I've played zilean for atleast a year now I do have the santa zilean skin, rewind really is nice though yea it doesnt lower his ult but im ok with it. he can slow people down to easily land a Q rewind speed himself up if he needs or throw another Q to stun and have another slow ready for the next stun combo. he is simple, but fun the last I want to do as zilean is walking around trying to do a mini game for another skill when he's designed to be a semi tanky utility mid lane mage

zilean is not suppose to be tanky at all, and was and is not designed to be

also the stun double bomb is nice on paper, but in reality is too hard to pull off and you are most likely basing your gameplay on low skill play where people do not even try to dodge anything, so you have a very inaccurate account of zilean--- besides if zilean is having no mana issues at all then we can always increase his mana costs since rewind is "free cost"

and we are not reworking Zilean, we are making one change that right now zilean has a feel bad aspect with his current passive

so your basically contradicting everything I say and even though you are wanting a way to heal on zilean dispite saying he isn't supposed to be tanky ever and the fact that if you can't land a double means nobody else can. I don't see a point in even making this comment back because your coming off like a jerk you might not notice it, but i am pointing it out to you.
