The "Reworking" trend.

Veigar Ryze Kassadin all had winrates below 50% before being nerfed. Ashe winrate was above 50% with a fairly high pick rate before she got buffed heavily. Various patches such as buffing Sion's scaling occurred when he had a 55% winrate.

I realize winrate doesn't mean everything, but when a champion had a 45% winrate before nerfing the strongest ability in their kit, that doesn't give me hope. I tried out Ryze after 5.10 and he's still incredibly weak. I just don't understand the balancing team's logic. Buff a champion when they're already strong and popular. Nerf champions that already have enormous tradeoffs (Veigar Ryze and Kassadin all had weak early games in exchange for strong late games).

Are we going to buff Riven Leblanc and Fiora next? Nerf Elise Syndra and Azir?

tl;dr I'm asking for more common sense when you completely change a champion's identity. If you're going to adjust a champion's strengths, make sure you balance it enough to where they are still playable.

Typically when a champion is reworked, its not because of their winrate. Its because there is almost no way for them to function outside of ridiculously setup team comps. Either that or they have no identity.

Sion was reworked because his kit mad 0 sense and he had no identity.

Ashe was reworked because she was just bad outside of certain teamcomps, she was outclassed in everything before the rework.

Veigar and Ryze needed the rework because balancing their current kits was physically impossible.

I didn't mention Sion's rework I was referring to his series of buffs that occurred after he already had a high winrate and pickrate, I guess the title is confusing with him in here. Anyways I get your point, but I also think they need to focus more on comparing the reworked champions to other champs that are in a good spot, and considering how the champion worked before.

Ryze was in a good spot because he was so weak early on in exchange for a strong lategame. His early game remains absurdly weak but he's just got a less reliable Q now. Veigar is similar. He was already easy to deal with bar his stun, but instead of just reworking the stun, they nerfed his Q, his ult ratio, and his stun altogether.

If they want to rebalance or rework a champion, by all means they should, but they need to consider if they are nerfing an ability on a champion with a low winrate, they probably need to buff some other aspect.

When a rework is done on a champ, there's a reason for it. They dont just take champs and say "lets fuck them up" to make people upset.

-Veigar was downright not fun to play against. I still think he needs work, but its going in a better direction that where he was before with that shitty instant cage and huge burst, especially against other ap mids. He practically guaranteed himself kills. -Ryze was all point and click with zero substance. get in range, load the enemy with your three abilities, back out, repeat. -Ashe wasnt bad. Just outclassed. By everyone. She practically screamed update. Sion everyone knows why that happened. Not much to say here.

then there's all the upcoming reworks (Taric Poppy Ryze's visual, etc.)
