Could Yasuo be really good now because of tank meta?

I mean if you think about it, we all know the tank meta is here because 3 roles are usually filled with tanks, that amounts to high damage dealers getting armor penetration and magic penetration. Based on that wouldn't Yasuo be a viable pick? Knowing how he is a LATE game champion now, and tanks are late game as well what if he could actually work well now?

He has:

  • Crit multiplier - Like legit this can hurt tanks just as much crit hurts from ADCs
  • 50% Armor Penetration from ultimate, now this is something that can really be useful when fighting a tank easily and your ult is up every 30 seconds
  • A prime build could be Statik Shiv, IE, Bork, Last whisper, Black cleaver, Tri force + your ultimate can be destructive in team fights with the 100% crit
  • I believe your Q as well can apply the armor pen. damage, so basically your role is tank deletion because Q is treat as an auto attack

I might be very wrong here, but I just came up with this idea because like every game now has a tank jungler and tanky support and a tanky top laner , so after looking at Yasuo's kit, especially his ultimate utility is really good because he is a late game champion which tanks are as well. Time to play Yasuo again!!! :D

The problem I see is Yasuo, along with many squishy melee carry champs, biggest weakness is being CC'd. And tank kits generally are loaded with CC

True that, but couldn't he windwall majority of the CC or do they go through?

It really depends on the champ, and of course my opinion is just in theory. You're def right, he would be able to shred tanks in smaller fights. But possibly would have an even harder time in 5v5s since theres simply more CC to go around.

Arguably, the reduced burst from the tank meta will allow Yas to get past his horrible Early game. At the same time so does Vladimir and he will probaby have an easier time doing it.

This isn't to say Yas isn't benefited by the shift, but their are too many better alternatives.

If Yas is going to succeed in the Tank meta, It's likely going to be a result of your tank getting a god like engage, and setting up Yasuo's Ult. It's going to be team comp reliant.

Yas is heavily team reliant, mostly in terms of team comp (this is also, IMO, why Bard hasn't caught on yet)

However, this does favor him in terms of matchups to some degree. He might still have a rough early game, because pre-6 he'll have a hard time getting through Champions that can build straight armor (I've gone top Yas versus a Malphite, and it still fucking sucked) but I've had a lot of success going against tanky comps by the time I get my core items with him.

The armor pen only works on bonus armor, so it's not too great.

Actually considering that Tanks are likely to have the most bonus armor on a team, its very good for him.
