I just got fucked and am not sure what to do short of going zz'rot/banner/tankmo. I tried maxing Q for long range poke and revolver, but it turned out I am rooted out of auto-range so he out-trades me and i can't proc revolver. I don't think any AP variant would have worked because my Q just doesn't out-damage his full kit and the range is not enough to safely poke him

Force out his stun at a time where he can not get the Spell Flux proc, spell shield/cleanse/QSS it or tough out the duration, then close the gap on him the best you can.
Then hope you can out damage him.
That's really all I can think of, ... other than going stealth and hope that you can ambush him.
