So how can Riot add 9 new items for a temp mode easily?

But can't manage to add items with diversity into the real game? Or change useless items without them sitting for at least a year? Or doing anything in a reasonable period of time?

It has now been proven that Riot can work fast and release new interesting content without having 3 years to work on it, so let's hold to that standard.

In other words, nice job on the new mode, new lore, and all the new quality content you have delivered! Now lets just see that transfer to the actual game on a consistent basis.

Because screwing around with the balance of a "Hey, let's screw around" game mode is not the same as trying to keep balance on the core, competitive game mode.

They didn't have to be concerned about balance and clarity because it's just a fun mode. If one of the items turns out to be broken, it's no big deal. Many of them have effects that they probably wanted to add to the game long ago but never dared to because it can have unexpected consequences. For example the mirror, or the free flash for ADCs.

Spoken like a true Bronze 2 who has no idea about balance but still begins shouting his opinion.

Every single item is completely useless pretty much except maybe the one that allows faster move speed in the river.

75% of the items in the main game are useless.

Lmao, the only reason they added these items quick (let's say quick but rly we dont know how long they've been working on this) is because this is a featured game mode they could care less if something is not balanced. If they add new items now, they have to test that item heavily and see the impact of it in game if any. If it has no impact, it's back to the drawing boards again for them. Also worlds is coming up so I doubt we'll see like huge major game changing patches for the next 2-3 patches

Certain levels of impact are nice, when introducing new items. But keep in mind that Morreloomicon was disabled in the game mode. I wouldn't be surprised if they actually were looking for a replacement. (phasing out Grievous wounds)

One of the interesting things they did was (compared to Morello's) was strip away it's passive, some of it's AP, and called it the lost chapters. Which can upgrade into one of 3 different books with different passives and some extra AP. This does test out the new (and possible more interesting passives and actives) but also tests how the book works if more compartmentalized. Cause if you really only buy Morello's as you Mana item, you should stop at the lost chapters, and start working on your core AP items.

And yes, the new game mode is a testing ground for the new items. Which may get reintroduced, possibly under a different name.

Pretty sure i read a Rioter saying that they didn't make the items simply to test for Season 6, but rather if it turns out that they'd be viable, that's just a bonus.

That may not be the only reason. But they probably didn't do it just for the game mode. The new item, as fun as they are, have no real impact on the Brawler design that the game mode is based on.

You mean a bunch of items that aren't even balanced and shouldn't matter? People who work on champions aren't going to be the same people who write lore etc.
