Defensive options for caster supports?

In the last patch defensive itemization got nerfed hard. Frozen Heart, Randuin's and Thornmail are weaker and Aegis gives 25% less MR. To compensate, all the tanky supports got better base stats. But how about caster supports? Is there any way left to build them somewhat tanky?

I am afraid that Riot just removed the tanky+CDR option for champions like Nami, Janna, Sona, Soraka and Lulu. Adaptability is a core aspect of this game, so I would love to keep a viable defensive build path for caster supports.

It does suck, but I'm just gonna build the same things. Hardly ever get to build more than one of them anyway.

No, they don't give a shit about non-tank supports other than Janna, because muhLCSBigPlays.

Ok, I'm kidding, but you're better off standing in sorta the backlines (with the exception of Raka, she is deep down in the backlines) and get Randuins + Zeke's, or still go for Frozen Heart if you're not getting Zeke's at all. And since you still won't be able to afford much, might as well build your same stuff. Especially since supports already don't have much pocket space for items (SS+boots+gold item already leaves you to 3 options, after all).

Also, runes/masteries might help a bit. Don't tell me you aren't going armor runes because that's actually a need botlane...

As for Raka, I have yet to try her with the new Warmogs. Heard the new health regen is sick. Also, go for health regen runes to make up for Rito's nerfing of that compared to everyone else.

I never build Frozenheart on supports anyway, CDR boots(15%)+gold item(10%)+masteries(10%) already gives you 35% and you have that Locket/Michael/Censer to build on top of that. Get armguard->Zhonya for armor, Locket/Banner for mres, and maybe even Zz'rot for both stats, mobility and splitpush. Go ahead, try to catch Janna with item 3069 , item 3023 , item 3504 and item 3512

I'm actually very angry that they nerfed Aegis so hard this last patch when not having magic resist is a HUGE problem in the game right now. We don't have enough magic resist items, champions like TANK jungle Ekko and mid Viktor are a problem we can't deal with, and they decided to lower the aura magic resist on a support item that was already pretty terrible?

Where is the logic?

There are a lot of things I've put up with in the game and I'm still sore about only having to be put down three freaking wards, but who and why thought this was a good idea on the Riot team?

It's nice that I can take a tank support and all and survive, but that doesn't help me any when AP mids with no mobility are killing my teammates from far away and I literally can't do anything about it? I help the entire time and this was another way for me to do that, not just with engages and offensive, BUT WITH DEFENSIVE AS WELL.

They nerfed a DEFENSIVE item and for the love of god I can't figure out what drugs they were on because right now I see no point in building Aegis. I start asking my team what they need, and the only item I can give them is--Aegis. But it's been nerfed. It's not even worth the money to spend on anymore.

Riot, WHY?!
