what if instead of true damage, infinity edge did this?

critical strikes increase your damage to champions by 1% for 4 seconds (stacks up to 20%).

this would make marksmen damage ramp up over the course of a fight. they wouldnt just open a fight with a 250% stattic shiv crit like now, but their damage would ramp up when they stay longer in combat.

a 1% increase per crit might seem low, but there are marksmen that can attack multiple times per second. some of them up to 3 or 4 times with lethal tempo, or abilities like lucians passive. the new i.e. will make 100% crit at 3 items easily achievable. so it would stack up faster than it might seem. plus, a generic % damage increase would technically also affect abilities.

i still think a more conventional dps increase like this would be a lot more healthy than the true damage conversion.

I think they need to get rid of damage amplification on critical strike and instead allow it to ignore a certain portion of armor. This would allow it to still be useful against tanks without booping a squishy out of existence with a single auto.

That’s what current PBE version does.

the pbe version goes too far imo.

some fighters are dependent and balanced around their passive resistances and % damage reduction abilities to survive. most tanks and fighters who have % damage reduction, these abilities are hooks for skill expression in those champion kits. theyre supposed to be really strong when utilized correctly.

the true damage partially invalidates these abilities. plus, the conversion is way too high. right now, the armor threshold where the new infinity edge deals more damage than the old one is somewhere around 60. it should be more around 150, considering a lot of fighters are buying one or two resistance items to survive long enough be able to even play the game.

a ramping up damage bonus would be a much more healthy solution. it fits into marksmens identity as sustained damage dealers who want to take extended fights.

infinity edge on its own is going to be useless anyways. crit garen had been viable until a bunch of item changes ove rthe years, and switching the true damage passive for a damage amp on infinity edge doesnt make the item more effective on garen.

i just really dont like how the true damage just makes part of your resistances entirely worthless, and even bypasses % damage reduction abilities that were intentionally made to give you short windows of high defense.

whats even the point of playing fighters or tanks after a certain point, if defensive stats dot actually make you more tanky? crits bypass resistances, and % health damage is omnipresent on items and in champion kits and already made items like warmogs already worthless. despite multiple buffs, no one except mundo and cho buy warmogs anymore, because health on its own is countered by so many champions and items.

there are already a good couple of champions in this game, that when playing against them i feel like there would be absoluletly no reason to build anything but minor defense, and its more effective to just run full ad builds, trying to blow them up before they can blow you up.

a ramping up % damage increase does support marksman playstile and helps them fight beefier targets (fighting tanks and fighters usually ends up drawn out) without making resistances in all their forms basically worthless.

I'm with you man.

If I play a tank, I play a tank so I can take a lot of hits.

Not just blow up in 3 seconds because "Muh ADC need buff"
