And in a couple of those they didn't even upgrade the yellow trinket.

WHAT THE HELL IS THIS. Why is this happening all of a sudden?

Because I'm a bad support so I prefer not going supp in ranked, knowing in particular that I'm bad at dodging skillshots which with blitz, thresh and leona around is much more dangerous in botlane.

I'm one who believes that if all 5 players upgrade their trinkets(at least 3 with green upgrade), then the support doesn't need a sightstone at all.

you can believe that but it's incredibly wrong. Sightstone is a mandatory item on all supports, as is the eventual acquisition of the sweeper and oracle trinkets.
