...off clearity, xin and devourer
In the latest patchnotes, i stumbled over a statement that reminded me how fucked up clarity is in terms of tooltips, especially with sated-devourer.
Devourer builds, it's important to note that the crit occurs every third attack, not every third hit. This means Sated's Phantom Hit passive won't let him double down into more crits
This implys that stuff that occurs every X attacks does not work with devourer, opposed to stuff that happens every 3ed hit. But now we take a look at some tooltips(taken from client)
Xin's Q:
Xin Zaho's next 3 standart attacks deal aditional damage...
Xin's W(heal):
Xin passively heals every 3 attacks....
And to have another champion aswell, Jax Ult:
Every third consecutive attack deals additional Magic Damage....
So what's the thing about this? All 3 quoted abillities refer to 'attacks' rather than hits, and yet they work with devourer Actually most such skils refer to attacks in their tooltips, yet they work with devourer. ** So...how is one supposed to know that Xin's new W, which uses the exact same wording as all thos other abillities, does behave differnetly with devourer?!?**
Also, how does one deside which should be on-attack and which should be on-hit? I honestly can't see any pattern hear. Xin's modifed baseic attacks with Q, which even have special animation, are aparently on-hit and no on-attack, same with Azirs Soldiers, all useing sated. Volibears Ultimate however is apparently on attack, same with Cho's E, Lulu's passive and Nauti's W, as they don't work with sated. Strangely enough, titanik hydra, which is prettymuch the exact same mechanic as Cho's E, does work with sated....
You really should make up your mind on which is a on-attack and which is on-hit, and draw a clear line, fixing ALL the tooltips. However, i think it's highly questionable to differ between the two anyway, as the only difference is the interaction with devourer and Runaan's, and it seems like this distinction is mostly made to cut down outliners, like the new Xin W or kayles E-aoe. It feels like a very artifical and forced way of balanceing, saying devourer works with basically everything, just not with Xin's W-crit, because it would be to strong. For Voli, Lulu and co, there isn't even that explanation, they are just randomly excluded because why not...
So...why don't you balance Xin around haveing Devourer, because..well...he HAS decourer. You decided to compensate the rather bad on-hit support in generall by giving them an absurd multiplyer(50%!!) and really don't expect it to be a staple on every on-hit user?!? And if your not happy with Xin beeing forced into devourer, why are you happy with so many others beeing forced into that item? Cause prettymuch every on-hit focused champion does gofor devourer or he goes nowhere at all: Xin, Udyr and Yi are jungle only these days. Jax, WW and Shyvana have a waaaaay better winrate jungle than top, and i honestly expect irelia to follow Jax into the jungler sooner or later.
If you suddenly care about Devourer pushing other options aside on some champions, why don't you adress ALL devourer champs, or adress the devourer problem by adding new on-hit options, especially an phantom-hit item for laners(like typhoon claws from Black Market, the tripplehits were awsome) and then balanceing champs and devourer around that?
Again, saying all works with devourer, exept Xin's crit looks like a horrible band aid for balance(he's probably going to be broken with those buffs despite that) and nothing more.
And as a side note, Diana still neither has sound nor the animation on her passive with devourer, same for Aatrox's W...do i really ask for to much if i want a fix on that?
