You'll never be able to balance Morde for both solo and duo lanes if he keeps his W passive

The sole reason a champion is taken solo lane over duo is for the faster leveling. His W passive combined with the fact that relic shield only works with nearby champions essentially means that no matter what Mordekaiser's kit is, duo Morde will ALWAYS be better. There is virtually no downside to putting Morde in a duo lane as opposed to a solo one. Please get rid of that damn thing.

Not to mention it being "Hidden" power, which riot seemingly hates (see Janna/Zilean passive) while simultaneously being really unhealthy/unfair, eating up a LOT of his power budget and basically "forcing" him to play duo.

But alas, it's been pointed out a lot already and It probably won't be changing any time soon :/

No you don't understand, Riot DOES hate hidden power. But it was CertainlyT that worked on Morde's rework. And as history has shown the rules simply don't apply to him because he's CertainlyT. It's the reason why none of his champions are ever nerfed cough Thresh cough Kalista cough (sorry I have a cold.) Because they're CT's precious little children.

Everybody knows Morde's W passive in unhealthy and unfair mechanic, but Rito is too proud of themselves and stubborn to admit it. They won't change it, unless it gets exploited in pro play. I really hope Morde will be used in worlds and completely destroy his enemies, maybe this will show Rito the brokenness of this "healthy way" to adapt Morde as a duo laner, as they mostly care about pro play.

But knowing Riot if Morde shows his (extremely obvious) flaws in Worlds or something they'll just heavily nerf/remove the XP passive with a "compensation" of +5% AP on E for both solo and duo Morde, then leave him for 2+ years in the gutter to wait for another rework.

Hooray for solo lane morde :P

Its to compensate for being melee

Having a support to keep him from being kited along with the sustain of relic shield along with extra gold for his support is his compensation for being melee in bot lane.

Dont forget that the enemy ADC has a support to kite Mord and to disengage. Mord needed a lot of things to change to get him to fit in bot lane effectively without being poked out before level 3. Did you ever play Mord bot pre-rework? Because it rarely worked unless your enemy support was an idiot and never disengaged.

mord bot was probably better pre-rework lmao

not having to land 3 hits to get your damage out and having actual waveclear and poke means he worked with more than hard engage, hooks, and Braum

the W passive is the only thing keeping him there

Oh I agree. I played Mord bot a number of times previously. But I felt like he was much harder to survive in lane then as he is now. Pre-rework you just shoved lane and harassed under tower. If you didnt you would get stomped if your enemy was a half decent adc.

Which is odd considering his base stats and shield gen are worse

all we needed was the minimum decay limit and he'd probably be a strong meta bot lane

It really is. I still play him bot in adc like he is "supposed to be" now but it just is not the same.

And that's why Morde has a bigass shield to eat poke in addition to the large number of supports that mitigate kiting. (Leona Thresh Blitzcrank Zilean Lulu just to name a few.)

I have played Mord bot quite a bit. His shield is terrible right now as it scales off of health: mid to late it is great but early it is terrible and a single auto takes it out. Yes, I agree that having a shield to block a single auto every few seconds is crucial, but saying he has a "big ass shield" when I am talking about early laning phase is such an over exaggeration. Half the time Mord can not even get his full shield due to the nerfed shield generation unless he hits Multiple champs with his E or is able to land a full rotation with getting minimal to no damage back.

Tbh I think Riot is wrong that he's healthier in a duo lane.

I don't think they want to. Their priority is obviously still bot lane with him
