I would like to explain my side of the argument in a calm, non-insulting way

Due to the recent surge in OE complaints, I’d like to throw my hat into the ring. I would like to say right off the bat that I will neither be doing any name-calling (snowflake, ingrate, etc), nor insulting the opposing party in any other manner (calling them ungrateful, insulting their intelligence, etc). I am here to present my argument and possibly respond to comments. Nothing more.

To be specific, I will be addressing the common argument that Riot is screwing people who payed for this game. The truth is that you have never invested money in the game itself, as it is free, but rather in cosmetics to go with the game. Since it’s a free game, neither of you owes the other anything to begin with. Yeah, you gave them money, but Riot gave you whatever it is you spent that money on. The transaction is over, and if you don’t like what you got, that’s your fault as a buyer. Saying Riot owes you because you’ve given them money for products that are now in your possession is like saying, for instance, a supermarket owes you free stuff after you’ve shopped there countless times, when in fact you have always gotten exactly what you payed for. Now, this may in fact be the case with such programs as the rewards card, but no such system is in place in League of Legends. You made a transaction with Riot. Both of you got something out of it. You’re even. If you think Riot got off on the better end of the deal, then you have only yourself to blame.

I'm behind the times, why are people wanting their money back from Riot?

Haven't read about this issue yet.

Due to the recent OE nerfs, people are getting mad over the fact that they can’t get free skins as easily and see it as Riot stealing from them. As with many complaints that arise (though I have seen more of them with this issue than usual) there is always a group of people saying that because they put into the game, and Riot is making a move they don’t like, that Riot is screwing them over. For my response to this argument please refer to the post above.

Holy crap people struggle with logic. You bought skins, not OE. As long as they didn't change the thing you paid for you can't cry.

Let me illustrate with an IRL example that I think is really relevant. Years ago I went to my first NBA game in my homestate, it happened to be fan appreciation day. Everyone in the crowd got these pretty nice hats, like very close to the quality you get from the merch shops. I believe we also got like a tote or backpack as well.

I couple years later I decided to take my buddy to a game as a gift, and thought it would be cool to go on fan appreciation day again. I don't know how other teams do it, but it's important to note that my team does not charge extra for fan appreciation day tickets. Now the second time I went we got these janky T-Shirts that looked like something someone printed at home. I didn't cry, it's a FREE gift. They don't have to do fan appreciation day, they don't have to give anything for free. It's not a part of what you are paying for, written no where in a receipt or purchase agreement.

Now you could argue that legacy season ticket holders could be pissed cuz since they will be there for every fan day, it's a part of what they are getting. Wrong! Again, the season tickets just guarantee them seats and some other benefits like priorities on certain things, but nothing about free merch in the agreement.

I have been telling this to players since LEATHALITY was introduced. Boycott Riot.

I am just saying if people don't like what riot is doing with OE just don't spend money and stop complaining about it since OE is tied more to chest sales then the free chests we get. The balancing issues or BE are what people should complain about not the damn OE.
