Are scripts and bots getting better?

What i mean by this is, are they becoming harder to detect and better at the game? After you factor out people just becoming better programmers.

I ask this from a bit of a philosophical and development standpoint. The rational being that as riot better defines their game and mechanics, of both the gameplay objectives and the champion mechanics, it seems like it'd become even easier to design a bot, or script, having a more clearly defined goal state and weights of decisions.

The internet forums probably isn't the best place for an intelligent discussion, but thoughts?

I think Riot's Anti-Cheat people got re-allocated to skins design team rather than scripts getting harder to detect.

It's an arm-race. Scripts are becoming harder to detect, and Riot is becoming better at detecting them.

It's not because of the reasons you mention, though. Better defined objectives and mechanics may help making the scripts better, but not it won't make them harder to detect, because they were not detected by being bad in the first place.

Well the reason it would make it harder to detect, would be because it limiting the ways which people can respond to something, means you can better replicate human reactions.

Based on the Youtube videos I've seen, it's starting to look like scripts are getting harder to detect. Or at least the players using the scripts are getting savvy and figuring out how to be less obvious. A little research seems to suggest that more of the scripters are using some version of an overlay on top of the gameplay, zoom hacks and a little less auto-dodge or auto-targetting.

As for bots, check out late evenings on the AI games - some of those bots are still pretty obvious. (As one who has regularly visited the bot games for practice and relaxation, I do miss how the old botting scripts where the bots would randomly put things into chat. It was somehow satisfying when their comments popped up at weird times - such as when they would say "Good Job" and they had just died. I swear the bot programmers are getting much less creative.)

So to use internet chess speak, the centaurs are faring better than the pure AI users.

Based on the last one i saw, their getting worse. It would call mid when the game started, ping it was coming to mid lane, then afk until it timed out and then would right away reconnect and repeat.
